I lost my keys to my 99 Tahoe so I hot wire it it will start but won't stay running

I think because there is no key with the chip or transponder, that the security is still preventing the vehicle from staying running. Your best bet is to take the van to an automotive electrical shop. They can either bypass the security system or fit a new key that works.

Why my car does not stay on [running] after it starts up? No problem to start it up, but it dies right away.

The fuel pump normally is run with a short timer (less than a minute) that runs the engine long enough for an engine run status to be detected, Normally from distributor signal. For some reason the normal engine run signal is not making it to the fuel pump relay. The security system light coming on may be interrupting it. Check out your wiring diagram to see how the fuel pump circuit is connected.

I have a used 2001 malibu it was running ok but one morning I go to start it and it wouldn't start. I changed the ignition coil packs, ignition module, and the fuel pump and it's still not starting? ...

Your vehicle has whats called pass-lock II, it is an anti-theft setup. There is a procedure that you can do to reset the pass-lock system. Try these steps and see if it helps. Please let me know if it does or does not work and I will help you to further diagnose and repair the problem.

Step 1 - Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the 'run' position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off.
Step 2 - Turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle.
Step 3 - The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key 'off' for 10 seconds and then 'crank' the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system.

Does it have a pass key

It probably does use the PASS key security system, but that would not cause your problem.
If the wrong key is used, the engine will not crank or start.
If your engine is starting and stopping, you would need to figure out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel pressure to proceed.

Put new alternator and battery in 1995 Buick Lesabre with key pass will turn over and run afew seconds but wont stay running

actually a pretty easy fix. The pass key computer lost its programming. Put the key in and leave it on with the security light flashing. Just turn off all your accessories and make sure battery is pretty good charge. Anyway after you leave the key on for ten minutes the security light will come on steady so turn key off and right back on and start car. If security light still starts blinking and car stalls then do it again. It will usually work the first time but can take a few times to get it right.

the most common problem with this style pass key system is broken wires at the lock cylinder which will require replacement of the lock cylinder

Car ran fine night before...next morning would not start. Replaced fuel pump, filter and switched relay but still had no luck. What else should we do?

CHECK TO SEE IF SECURITY LIGHT IS STAYING ON WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO RUN POSITION(NOT START) NORMAL OPERATION IS SECURITY/ANTI THEFT LIGHT ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN SHOULD GO OFF. IF ITS STAYING ON VEHICLE IS IN THEFT MODE WHICH WILL DISABLE THE FUEL INJECTORS BECAUSE CAR THINKS ITS GETTING STOLEN. MOST LIKELY CAUSE FOR THIS IS PASSLOCK SYSTEM(SENSOR IS LOCATED IN STEERING COLUMN)

Can t get my car to stay on for l,onger than three seconds

There are many things that can cause this condition, but you are spending way too much money trying to figure out what. Is the check engine light on? If it is then take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve the fault code(s) from the computer. Most parts stores offer this service at no charge and they have no agenda. Getting the code(s) will greatly assist in determining what the true problem might be. I don't know where to begin, since you have been replacing both ignition system and fuel system components. I would lean toward a faulty idle air control valve, EGR valve, or Mass Airflow Sensor, but the code(s) should tell the tale. Sure hope this helped you and good luck. I would be interested to know what you find out.

My 1998 Chev Cavalier Theft System light stays on

If the car starts and dies right away you may have a pass key sensor fault.
Try to start the car,if the car dies right away just leave the key on and watch the security light in the insturment panel,if it begins to blink leave the key on until it stops blinking (apx 10 mins.) this will reprogram the pass lock to the pcm and may solve all your problems.if the car continues to die after running a min or so then you may have other faults,or if the car dies right after start the pass lock sensor may need to be replaced.
