Most halfshafts have a metal ring clip on the end of them. to verify look at the end of a new one and see if one's there. if so then u just have to pop it out with a prybar, or get a piece of wood and a hammer and beat on the cup side next to the transmission outward. sometimes it takes a pretty good jolt to pop her out. there is a tool out there that is an adapter for the end of a slide hammer and fits behind the cup.good look and take ur time.

Cant get driver side cv axle out on a 96 ford escort 1.9l

if you have taken the half axel off the wheel arm, then all it should take is a hard pull by hand to pop the half axel out of the transmission.

Replacing transmission fluid in standard

The manual transmission in the Ford Escort uses transmission fluid, it is checked and filled in the same hole. That hole is where the speedometer cable is hooked up to the transmission. Remove the speedometer cable, set aside, then remove the locking bolt that holds the speedometer drive unit in place. Pull up on the drive unit and it will come out, look on the side of the drive unit and you will see the level indicator line for full and add. Fill as needed and reinstall the drive unit and cable. Hope this helps, let me know.

I want to remove front axel driver side please

Basically, you loosen the axle-nut (could be pretty tough, so spray some lubricant on it) and the wheel nuts. Jack up the car and support it on jack-stands.
Reomve the brake calipers and tie it up to frame. Remove the two bolts holding the struts bracket and steering-knuckle. Push down/sideways to separate both strut-bracket and steering-knuckle. Use large screw-driver or pry bar to pry off axle from side of transmission. Block-off transmission fuild with a nylon rag or similar; take out axle-shaft. Installation is reverse of removal.

I'm preparing to remove front right axle shaft (Cv half shaft) in a 1998 ford Escort zx2 with ABS and Auto trans. Is it held in the transmission by a spring ring or a snap ring?

It is held in by a spring ring. You need a good strong pry bar and you position it between the hub of the axel and the case of the trans and **** hard pulling it out. It sometimes is seated well, but keep trying. It will fight you sometimes.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1990 Ford Escort, Automatic trans. I am in the process of replacing the driver side CV axel, all came out well except the part that goes into the transmission. When I tried pulling it out the axel...

put a wedge between it and the trans and pound on it its just stuck or a big pry bar happens all the time jack it up as high as you can too helps alot so you have more room to work

My 1999 Ford escort idles rough when the car is in drive and im on the break.

While this can come from several sources, a 'normal' misfire from a single plug can cause that. Another possibility is the idle air control may not be functioning as it should.
You didn't mention it but we can assume you have an automatic transmission. Standing with the brakes on and the tranny in drive, does load down the engine somewhat (drag) so nearly anything out of whack can cause the rough idle.
