The two sure signs are, 1 coolant coming out of the weep hole on the body of the pump. and 2, take the belt off and feel for play in the water pump pulley.

2000 FORD EXPEDITION OVERHEATING....changed thermostat, radiator cap, confirmed fan clutch is working, no radiator leak noted, changing coolant temperature sensor as a type...water pump not leaking or...

yes. the impellor on these engines have a tendency to come off the water pump.First you can see if the pump is working by removing a heater hose then have someone to start the engine. if the water sprays a good, solid stream out then the water pump is good. if the water just barely comes out or not at all then the pump is weak or "bad".

Is there a recomended time replacement for a water pump on a ford expedition w/ 4.6 L ,w/180K? Going on a road trip,1600 mi round trip,Have changed upper & lower hoses,radiator...

There is no specific change point of a water pump, and if there is no leaks go for it. BUT you might want to grasp the shaft of the water pump and see if you have any play in it. That is usually the first indication of a potential problem.

How can i tell if my water pump is bad

If your water pump is bad then it will be leaking, or it will seize up. Real easy to tell if one is bad.

I am seeing water behind the pump on the top of the motor in the v under all the fuel injection / intake is that normal for water pump to leak there if its bad?

its not normal. the water pump will leak in front, not back. There is a pipe and hose down in the VEE that can leak. If the pipe is bad, you will need to remove the pump to replace it. The intake manifold will need to come off, to replace the pipe/ hose. the hose connects a pipe behind the water pump to a pipe at the rear of the block to a heater hose.

2000 Ford Expedition fuel pump shut off switch - where is it located

Your owners manual should tell you where the fuel pump shut-off switch is located. It is usually located behind the right hand front kick panel near the top.

Will not start. turns over when i spray starting

First you need to verify that the pump is getting power. Did you check the Inertia Switch? Power goes through that switch to the fuel pump. If the switch is good, and getting power, the fuel pump is most likely bad, the fuel tank must be lowered to replace the fuel pump.

1998 Expedition: 2000 Ford Expedition I smell antifreeze with heate...

If you smell antifreeze it may be 3 possibilities: 1. you may have a leaking hose/hose connector , or water pump. 2. your heater core is bad and needs replaced. Unless you know what you are doing I would highly suggest taking to dealer for heater core replacement. The dash and steering colum has to be removed to get to the heater core. This is not an easy job believe me (about-900-1200 job). If you have your heater core replaced then also replace the climate control door. This is good preventative maintenance and also a a dollar saver. I would have a pressure check run on your radiator as a first thought. All you may have is a bad hose and that can easily be replaced.

Rear suspension is not lifting pump is working but no lift

Sound like the rear air springs are probably bad. Get some soapy water and spray on the rear bags and check for bubbles while its running. You can also look for splits in the rubber , they frequently dry rot at the bottoms.
