I am trying to locate the oil sending unit on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0. I believe it is near the filter, but cannot find anything to verify that.

Should be right above the oil filter. The quick lube places are notorios for breaking them off when replacing the oil filter. Should have a three wire connector plugged into it. the connector is black with a red safety tang holding it into place.

High oil pressure. Do I need to replace oil sensor and where is it located?

You could start with the sending unit. Could be a wiring problem or it could actually have high oil pressure.
The sending unit is near the oil filter on the 6 cyl engine and I think on the 8 cyl too.

For 4.0 engine, it is between the oil filter and the firewall. Sometime it could be hidden behind the harness there. So, move the harness and you will see it.

2002 jeep wrangler oil pressure gauge drops

When the gauge is at 0, is there any noise from the engine (tick, knock etc?) I would have someone put a mechanical gauge on there and read true pressure.Your driving pressure seems OK but if the low number is "real" something is wrong!
