Usualy the control panel has a cold solder joint. try to flex the connector on it around, see if it comes on. new ones cost 400 bucks and often hafta be coded by the dealer.

Sounds to me like the refrigerant is low, when the compressor turns on and off this is usually the issue.have the system charged.

I had this problem when I first got my car and I forget who I called but they told me one wire on the harness that had to be cut. I cut the wire and and worked fine. I will try to get the radio out later and check on the wire that I cut for you.

Heater and a/c panel comes on and off

Hi all, this problem is quite common on these control units. Unfortunately this sounds like a fault with the curcuit board inside the unit and if this is the case the complete unit will have to be replaced and coded to the vehicle to cure this problem. hope this is of some help

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
