I want to rewire the headlights via the ignition so that the headlights come on only when the car is on. My wife keeps on forgetting to turn off the headlights and the car is DEAD when she returns in the evening.

There is supposed to be a warning chime on the car. Is that not working? To rewire the lights to Run, you would have to access the bottom of the engine compartment fuse panel and move the headlight relay wire and 20 amp fuse #42 from the hot row to a blank spot in the run row. Sorry, but I don't have a diagram of the fuse box, so I can't give you precise instructions. The wiring diagram is pasted below.

Headlights won't turn off even with keys out of

The headlights are powered by the battery through the ignition switch via a fuse. Check the relay and the fuse; the problem will be in one of those two.

Low beam headlights keep burning out, 8 times on

If you visit many forums for Elantras, you will see that frequent headlamp failure is very common. It has been discussed over and over again and it is thought that always turning the lights off and on via the stalk switch is recommended. If you leave the light switch in the on position, when you start your car, the lights briefly flash on then off again as you turn your ignition to the start position and then turn on again as you release the key to return to the "on" position. This may be causing a power surge which creates stress on the bulb filament and can only be avoided by using the light switch instead of the ignition to power up the headlamps.

Have a question about 2005 Elantra. When I turn off ignition headlights go off. is it possible to keep headlights on with ignition off?

no its not possible most newer cars like 05's and older have a automatic relay so when ignition is off they automatically shut off so you dont forget about them and drain your battery

Ignition fuse keeps blowing I have changed coil and ign module cant find short is there a way to bypass and rewire to fuse? Pontiac,Firebird 97

It's much too complicated to rewire the ignition... Maybe the fuses you used are not good quality. Only a service station can help you, I'm afraid...

I have a 1987 Fiero GT that is having a problem with the cooling fan, every time i turn the park light or headlights on the fan turns off and will not come on until i turn the lights completely off.

rewire the fan to a toggle switch inside the car or just hook the fan up direct to your ignition so when the car starts the fan comes on
