Battery lite on,charge gauge dropped below half

Hi, If the belt is good then a visual inspection of the wiring at the back of the alternator is first, give it a wiggle and make sure its sound. If you have a multi meter and you can check battery voltage at the alternator then make sure you have good battery voltage at the main positive terminal at the rear of the alternator(should be the biggest red wire) and then if you can safely check the voltage engine running to eliminate a fault further up. If you have good voltage stood and it doesent change when engine is running then alternator is probably dead.

2005 F250 Battery lite would come on until warmed up, for approx 1 month batteries hold charge under a load. Had to jump start twice and while driving the Dash cluster went wild, IE ~ ABS Lite, A Wrench...

first i would check the alternator just to be on the safe side sounds just like the problem or the brain or body control module went haywire on and sometimes a battery will show that is good untill you actually use it might get a good diagnose from a local shop - dealer etc.

I continue to get the "CHECK CHARGING SYS" lite on my 2005 Ford Taurus. What do you think this means?

It's likely to be an alternator that is starting to fail or a belt slipping through alternator pulley causing a low charge. You can verify by stopping by any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc... ) and they can test it for you for free,

The alternator works, but the Batt lite stays on, and the battery is not bring charged. 1983 isuzu pick up.

You say the alternator works so I have to assume you have used an ammeter and checked the alternator output at various loads or engine rpm's to ensure it's meeting its peak charging output, am I right? So that means if the battery is not charging then the battery itself has a weak cell and is not charging or you have a loose connection at your battery or the wiring to the alternator itself is bad or not making a good connection.

Yes, check voltage output with tester, with engine running, lights and a/c on should be more than 12v about 13.5-14volts if not alternator is not charging system

Good battery not holding charge

there could be a draw in the electrical system. with key out of ignition and all doors closed. disconnect neg battery cable and put test lite in between cable and battery terminal, if it lites up strong, then there is a draw down. to trace the draw, leaving test lite hooked up, remove interior lite fuse. then remove one fuse at a time(returning previous fuse to proper place) until test lite goes out. that is the circuit that is drawing down. you pull the interior lite fuse first cause door will most likely be open to ck rest of fuses. hope this helps

Charging system on 1997 ford explorer

sorry, probably not. the charging specs need to be checked. with accessories on, ck volts and amps. should be 13.8 minimum volts and around 2-8 amps or so. the only other thing i can think of if it is charging is to ck single thin wire behind alternator for good connection. i believe that is the reading for the dash lite.
