1997 Taurus ford GL 3.0,6cyl. Heat runs cold to

Some early cars have what is referred to as a hot water valve under the hood . It is hooked in one of the heater hoses , the supply side . The other hose is the return side , once the hot coolant goes through the heater core it goes back to the engine to get heated up again. This hot water valve is operated by engine vacuum. If you look at the fire wall or bulkhead , you should see two hoses going into the inside of the vehicle. those are the heater hoses. look for the valve on one of them. If you vehicle doesn't have one of this valves , you possibly have a mode or blend door problem . Does you car have Electronic Automatic Temperature Control or manual A/C-heater system ? The heater blower does work , all speeds ?

My ford taurus jerks foward when its cold so it happens in the morning no one has been able to tell me what it is..the shop i took it to change some hole and said that was it but its still doing it i...

You may need to provide more details about what was changed and whether engine is revved up. Also if no problem when warm.

Depending on symptom, the engine could be running too fast when cold. But if the jerking forward is when you are leaving a parking spot, it could be a sticky transmission part caused by dirty trans fluid.

There are temperature sensors which control "cold" operation of the throttle. If the sensor is not speeding up the engine when cold, it will **** until the engine warms up.

Another potential problem is a worn O2 sensor with a heater element built into it. This little element is suppose to heat up and cancel the cold cycle quickly. But if the heater is bad, then the cycle is changed.

Try having a free scan at Autozone, Oreillys ,or Advance.

sounds like your thermostat is stuck open, if its takes a very long time for the engine to warm up and you get nothing but cold air from your heat then thats the first place i would start.

HEATER

Check the coolant level.Feel the heater hoses going to the heater core to see if they are warm,or hot.If one of them is warm,or hot,and the other is not, remove the heater hoses, and flush the heater core out with a water hose.Bleed the coolant system, and you might want to install a new thermostat while you are at it.

My 1997 ford taurus transmission slips when it shifts to second

this is caused by a piston in the transmission that has a crack in it once it warms up the crack seals and operates normally.being cold the crack opens up allowing fluid to flow past it. take to trans shop as soon as you can, will be minimum repair if it has not caused further damage in the transmission.

Ford taurus Wagon 2001 heater problem

Check your coolant level. If the antifreeze is low the water pump may not be able to pump enough of the coolant through your heater core. When the car runs faster it is able to pump more of the warm antifreeze to the heater core.

HEATER DOES NOT STAY HOT IT STARTS THEN IT GOES COLD

Check the heater core for a clog or the heater control valve. The easiest was to check these is allow heater to run for a few minutes and check the two hoses coming from under the hood against the fire wall. They should both be hot. If they are not, you have one of the above problems. Start with the heater control valve and replace it. It is much cheaper than than a heater core. Next, you will need to pull the lines from the firewall and see is rust starts coming out of the lines, if so, you may be able to flush the system and clear the blockage. After that, if it does not work, it will require replacing the heater core, which is no easy or cheap feat.

Let me know if there is anything more I can help you with.
