Question about 1999 Buick Regal

1999 Buick Regal 78,000 miles. Car has not been driven for about 18 months. I charged the battery, and drove the car 10 miles, and parked. I restarted the car then drove 30 miles; all was well up to this point. I tried to start the car 1 hour after parking it, without any luck. The starter cranks, and the engine chugs without any power, and not allowing me to accelerate, then dying. I used starter fluid to help start the engine, which worked as long as I kept the starter fluid going, and it allowed me to accelerate, but once the starter fluid was stopped, it died Checked the fuel flow at the valve before the fuel injectors, and had no pressure at all. I replace the fuel pump relay, which did not correct the problem. I also bought a fuel filter (not installed yet) to see if this would help, but usually I've had fuel filters plug over time, not so suddenly as I'm now experiencing. I'm stranded and need help. Can you give me any advice?

Still got the fuel pump left. Can you hear it come on, and then time out? You need to put an amp clamp, on a fuse buddy,inserted in place of the fuse,and check for current to pump.
Don't work on your vehicles to that level,got to have it repaired.
Guessing, dropping to fuel tank, will be where you stop anyway. Not much fun.

Sounds like a fuel pump problem but you need a proper gauge to ck this,there is a shrader valve on fuel rail were injectors are to ck this pres i think should be 32 to 36 psi but care must be taken and proper pressur gauge used

The filter is a good idea as the car sitr for awhile and now your driving it the fuel slooshing around in the tank has washed the rust off the sides of the tank and the fuel pump picked it up and it ended up in the filter and also on the pickup screen of the fuel pump. The tank may be rusted enough that it will have to be removed and cleaned and if the pump is bad change it too (It's in the tank) If the car has to be stored for a long time in the future it'll be important to store it full of fuel. fuel stablizer added may help too. the tank may be out of gas as the gauge may be gummedup and says theres fuel and it's truly out. To check remove the cap put in a funnel or a pen or something to hold the flapper open and shake the car listen for the fuel slooshing around. You can be out. If you've got fuel say some old dried up fuel has locked up the pump, with someone trying to start the car beat on the tank to shake the pump, you may restart the pump and your running agin. If it runs though youneed to change the pump as it's going to do it again.

Why does battery go weak even when not using the car?

possibly the mileage driven does not allow the battery to recoup the charge it used up in starting the car. perform a draw down test to see if battery is defective

The 12 volt battery(LUCAS 065/3) on my FORD FIESTA 1100cc is 4 years old, in that time i have only driven 1,600 miles as my journeys are usually very local. I make sure i use the car twice a week to keep...

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

1999 Regal GS -stalls, starting trouble, won't shift now

the batt is suspect...take it to autozone, or other place, they'll check it out free......the shifting out of park is a seperate issue, the pawl for the steering/shifter is not working properly....did you notice if the steering wheel would turn when the shifter is stuck?....probably not....when this happens try to turn the wheel back and forth-not hard but not gently- a little graphite dust sprayed in there would help.......hope this helps you out

I cannot get my 99 buick regal out of park after starting vehicle

It is the ignition Key Switch. I had the samething happen to me about six months ago or so. you may get it to go out of park if you try to start it about a 100 times or so. I suggest that if you can have it towed or have a mechanic go to the location of the car. Have a Blessed day!!

It's probably the mass airflow sensor and/or oxygen sensors.
