I have a 1998 Ford Expedition. Yesterday I had new tires put on the rear. Now when I put it into reveres and immediately go to back up. I get a noise in the left rear. None forward.

Sounds like your emergency brake is either hanging up or there is a interference issue with your new tires.

I would start with making sure your emergency brake is releasing completely.

First thing is to find a level place to raise the left rear wheel. Place a block behind the right rear wheel.
Place the transmission in neutral (disengage 4 wheel drive if you have it.) release the E brake and spin the wheel to check for drag. If your wheel is hard to turn and or you hear or feel some resistance the E brake cable may be binding, the shoes may be hung up, out of adjustment or worn out.

Rear passenger tire on ford ranger locks up when moving forward

Pull the brake drum off to see what's binding-brakes won't retract, emergency brake is stuck, a brake shoe return spring may be broken. Raise the rear and take both drums off to compare left and right side brakes and all the parts therein.

1998 4runner(limited)148k miles.left rear tire locks up,then rolls????parking break is not engaged,

if its rear drum brakes, you probably have a sticking wheel cylinder. or a brake adjuster that's adjusted too tight. If its four wheel disc brakes it's probably the emergency brake cable/ tension mechanism not releasing.

E-brake is locking up tires

if rear e-brake locks up then get under car and pull on cable to rear wheels, this should un lock brakes, if the cable is not in a bad state and rusted. if to bad replace rear cables. if it comes loose then oil the cable good at the rear wheels. this may take care of problem.but you may have to take rear tire off to check on the condition of rear brakes also.

89 Toyota Camry manual, rear left wheel has locked and won't turn at all. When I try to move the wheel just slides.

If you or someone pulled hand brake, or pushed emergency brake pedal, and it occurred after, you can try rapping a few times on rear emergency cable going into backing plate, with screwdriver handle or similar, to get cable to retract enough to get it loosened off. Spray area where cable goes into sleeve with WD-40 or similar before. It may or may not work, depends on whether slack is there or not. Otherwise something has obviously gone wrong in there. Either way, you should pull that wheel apart & see what is causing it.

89 f150 4x4 right rear locked up

On older vehicles with drums brakes in the rear, the brake shoes on the inside are used for the emergency brake. However, the emergency brake only uses one pad per wheel instead of both, which is why the emergency brake does not work as well at keeping the vehicle from rolling backwards. You should check to see if the emergency brake is locked up. If that doesn't work, take the driveshaft off and try tow it forwards. If it rolls, then your transmission is not functioning properly.

ABS is locked up on rear brakes

Check your brake line going into the caliper and the caliper on the wheel that makes the noise. It's probably a caliper or brake hose. Hope this helps. PHil
