Question about 1997 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

Hi there, My 1997 Toyota Corolla's sunroof won't close. It opened fine but the button to close it doesn't work. When I push the open button I hear clicking in the motor which tells me there's electricity getting to it. But When I press the 'close' side of the button I don't hear anything. Is the button broken or what? What should I do? I'm on a limited budget!

Hi this could be a couple of things, first thing i would look at is the relay for the sunroof, locate the relay either in the fuse box, or around where the sunroof button is, and replace it, this should be very cheap, some cars have an emergency hand winding system if the sunroof gets stuck open, its normally under a cover on the roof lining in the front, just use that to close it, and then it might actually work after as this might just be a stuck cable, but if its a broken cable this could work out expensive to get repaired...but check out the first two things and see how you get on...hope this helps

SOURCE: Remove the radio from 1997 Toyota Corolla

i have a 97 corolla as well, and i've changed the radio out several times on my own. if you take a small screwdriver and stick it in between the panel that goes around the around the area where the radio is, u should be able to pry it off relatively easy. just be sure to remove the sliders off the AC controls before you do. after you pop that panel off, you just have to disconnect the wiring harnesses going to the clock, hazard lights, rear defroster, and AC button. the radio is bolted in there with a mounting bracket, so you'll have to unscrew that as well. you'll need to unscrew that bracket from the radio you have in there, and mount it to the one you wanna install....hopefully this helps you out. it sounds harder than it really is.

SOURCE: 1994 toyota corolla brake lights won't turn off

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check the brake switch. Your brake pedal contacts the brake switch when it is pressed down. There is a small button on the brake switch that activates the lights. It may be stuck or broke. Try to loosen the button first. If it won't, buy another one. They only cost a few dollars.

How to reset sunroof on 1997 bmw 740il

By 'reset', you mean having it open/close with one push of the switch? If so, you will need to 'hold' the open side of the switch until the sunroof completely opens.....hold the switch for about fifteen seconds; then push close side of switch until sunroof closes.....hold the switch for about fifteen seconds-or until you hear a beep. This should 're-program' your sunroof.

Reset sunroof toyota

To reset the moonroof one-touch operation:
With ignition switch in the "ON" position, do the following:
1. Push and hold the "TILT UP" side of the switch until the moon roof tilts all the way up and then tilts down slightly (approximately 10 mm [0.39 in.] at the rear).
2. Check for proper operation of the "one-touch slide open/close" and "one-touch tilt up/down" functions by pushing the switch briefly to the "SLIDE OPEN" and
"TILT UP" positions.

Sunroof wont open on 540i 2002

Often can be the fuse. The sunroof on my '98 opened fine then 30 mins later would not close. Found a 30amp fuse burned out. A 2 minute fix. Fuse box is located in glove box. If you hear a click sound the instant you push the open button, then you might be a more serious issue. Beyond my knowledge

The sunroof of my 2008 Toyota Corolla won't open

Its possible that the motor is stuck somehow. You'll have to pull the headlining down and inspect the mechanism.

My sunroof won't close

Some sunroofs have a open switch like the drivers window. You push it and the window will open automaticly. The button on your sunroof could be jammed so even though you can close it as soon as you release it, it will auto open on it's own.

My 2004 tiburon moonroof is stuck doesn't open or close i can hear the motor going but the moonroof just doesn't move at all, first it was closing all the way down but was making a funny noise as...

In order to find out what's causing the problem, the headliner must be dropped (removed) to access the sunroof motor so it can be inspected and removed to inspect the slide cables up inside the sunroof/moonroof assy. Until that's done, there's not much more I can do to help except speculate.

I have a 1987 celica gts hatch back...and my close button and down button doesn't work for my sunroof but the open and up does and it stuck opened....how can I fix this or close my sunroof before it...

Some cars have a small plugged hole in the ceiling above the back seat. You can use an allen wrench there to close the sunroof..

I know Acura has it and several other cars. Try looking around on the headliner.

Hope this helps you

good luck
