Hi, help please? Ford escape 3.0 v6 -2001 model Disconnect battery to reset ecu, wait 30 secs - reconnect, engine check light stays off for next journey, turn car off. Start it again and check engine light...

The age of the battery could be a factor. My 2000 Windstar has a history of similar problems - currently on battery number 7. As battery function deteriorates, strange symptoms occur. Check for low or fluctuating voltage level on the instrumentation bus. In my case, I cannot turn on the rear A/C and leave it on overnight or it will kill the battery. You may find some similar malfunction. Try to get access to the factory service bulletins for your Escape as there may be a clue as to something that should have been corrected but wasn't.

I have a 1997 pontiac grand prix gt. I need help bad. My car has constant power running through it and its killing my battery. I think it started when I had my buddy redo my radio so I think he messed with...

As with any battery drain, you would pull the fuses and disconnect the major circuits while watching a test light or meter that is showing the drain. When you find the circuit in question the light goes off.
Then the fun begins trying to find the source of the drain. In your case you may want to start with disconnecting the radio. You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams.

Hi I need an unlock code for a Ford 6006 cdc sterio. Serial number is V011259

You can't reset it yourself. It takes a scanner at your Local Dealership to do it. People do it, (new battery or dead battery) everyday unaware that doing so can and usually does, arm the theft system and either kills the radio or the whole car. To me it's just another built-in defect that requires dealer assistance. It's a buzz kill I know. They will need your VIN, and then they call HQ to get the code for your radio, which will also bring your whole car back to life. Please tell everyone you know about this. Put in on your blog. Post it at work....

Auto zone say my 2003 e250 ford alternator is ,good but it kills the battery

Even the people you said that the alternator is good and you still loosing battery, why don't you ask them to do a power leak test,`like any circuit on radio, lights body contacts leak. Probably you might have somewhere something killing your battery. If what I said is already done, just do a final test by changing the alternator and see the outcome.

What is the amp draw when the car is on accessory with nothing on. just a estimation. My car is drawing 5 amps with the key in and turned and it killed my battery?

When you say NOTHING on, are you saying no radio or interior light? No light on in the boot (trunk) and no sidelights? If this is the case then a 5 amp drain does sound a little odd.

That said 5 amps should not be a great drain on the battery. If you have a 70 amper hour battery (Obviously, I don't know what car and rating battery you have, so I just took a general stab at a Mitsubishi Charisma which has a 70ah battery) then a 5 amp drain should take 14 hours to kill it stone dead. I imagine that 5 hours would put it in a pretty poor condition and 10 hours would probably have discharged it to the point where all your lights are dim and the vehicle wont turn over on the starter motor.

It does sound like you have something draining moe power than would be expected

I have a 40 chevy coupe 6 volt system it keeps killing new battries. What can I do to check were my problem is?

Hello salnsofia: My name is Roger and I can give you some things to look at. First make sure the generator is in good shape. Bad brushes can short out the armature causing a short. I would also check the voltage regulator for burnt points. This will cause a draw on the system that will run a battery down. If you replaced the voltage regulator? If my memory serves me you need to polarize the regulator or it will not charge the battery. This would not take long to run down the battery. The hard part now it trying to remember how simple the old cars were to work on.
Should you need more help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

I have a 1991 nissan king cab and when i turn the key to on, all electronics in the cab work, fan lights radio ect, then i turn it to start and nothing happens, not a click not turning over nothing....

You could be correct, if the starter solenoid is bad and not making contact it will kill the entire electrical system and also not engage the starter motor. I would replace the solenoid. Please rate this answer, thanks.

Hello bahamut_xero: My name is Roger and I will help. You must remove the battery hold down bolt. It will be located on engine side of the battery box at the bottom of the battery tray. Will need a 13 mm. socket, extension and ratchet to take the bolt out.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer as this way I know it was useful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

My chevy Trailblazer is stuck RUNNING,My ignition wont turn off?

Try to move the steering wheel back and forth. If that don,t work try to disconnect the neg - side of the battery. this will at least kill the engine.
