SOURCE: Vibration at 2100 rpm

It is probably your Motor Mounts. They attach the engine in 4 places to the frame of the car. When the rubber wears out, it will cause excessive veibration.

Take it to your mechanic and tell him to check the motor mounts. For the front and side three mounts, it will probably run about $550 with the parts, im guessing.

SOURCE: Accelarating from 25 to 40 MPH - a "rattle" in exhaust system

Had my y-pipe replaced (bad cats) and the bolts at the y-pipe flange where it attaches to the exhaust manifolds started to get loose and I go tthe viberating (tinning) noise. Took it in the first time and they tightened everything up but it seems it's doing it again so I'm going to try to fix on my own. Just wondering how much of a pain it's going to be to get to the bolts and what size...

SOURCE: There is a rattling sound

Saturn's have a hydraulic timing belt tensioner that can become loose with age. Number one reason for premature failure is not doing enough oil services over the coarse of its life. I am not saying this is your problem but not being able to see the car and based on your description, I have seen and heard this a few times now, Your best bet is to have someone in person look at it. If someone here guesses wrong you could damage your engine beyond repair if it breaks.

Sorry for the late reply but, no, it is not related to a loose heat shield. It is a louder rattling sound more like a loose bearing vibrating inside either the transmission or the clutch assembly. Only between 1600 and 1900 rpm. and it is not present under ou over these rpm. The rattle desappear when I lock the 4X4. Dealer is out of solution!!

you are labouring the engine too much for the engine power ,you must keep teh RPM up it is a diesel and they will not develop power like a petrol engine at low RPM ,always pull away in first gear anyway or you will burn the clutch out in no time

When I take off in first gear, my 98 mustang 3.8 makes a little rattle noise and then goes away. What is this and how can I fix it?

Most likely is a heat shield on the exhaust, get under the car and check the heat shields to see if one is broke loose.

I am having a problem with a rattle noise while

try U joints or check all you heat shielding on your exhaust it might be harmonic. My 96 300zx rattles alot when i give it some gas and it sounds like tranny but the trans seems to be smooth for the most part and the clutch is relatively new. also check your trans mount. i've seen bolts get loose and it wont knock but it will rattle.

Rattle in low gears when clutch is let out...

Subaru's are notorious for having exhaust rattles from the heat shields on the catalytic converter.

Does the noise go away or lessen when the engine gets hot? I know it seems unrelated, but on my 2002 Impreza it made a lower groan sound at first when ever I would shift gears as the engine speed (RPM) dropped. I put up with it for a year then finally I got a stainless steel hose clamp from the hardware store and put it around the heat shield.

Truly I should just get a new catalytic converter, they are around $200, but the hose clamp stopped the noise.

This might not have anything to do with it your noise. It is a cheap and easy fix though.

Good Luck

Rattling Coming from Engine At low RPM (stopped) and when accl.

If this sounds like a tin can rattle it is likely a loose heat shield on top of the catalytic converter. They come loose after time and corrosion take their toll.
