Heat and air wont blow through vents

The selection door, is operated by 1/4" vacuum hoses. When turning the knob or sliding a lever, to select between floor, vents, or dash deck for windshield defrost, vacuum is created by the valve body and the blower will then blow thru the desired vents. When these hoses/lines are compromised, especially on a vehicle over 15 years old it seems likely, vacuum won't be created, and the last working position, is normally where it stays! Until the lines are replaced.
Good luck.

U have a vacuum leak so all of your controls for vent defrost floor etc. will work but intermittently or once in a gray moon this is so hard to explain because to fix this is not going to b a five minute job try atleast 5-10 hours of trial and err you have to track down the leak and I guarantee there is more than 1 regards Chris

Heater control switch does not add heat; only ambient air

I think it is the actuator/solenoid that is in the middle of the dash at the very bottom of the hvac case (against floorboard). You may have to remove the long plastic cover held in by 7mm screws. The actuator is held in with 5.5mm screws I think. You can remove this and turn it by hand and see if it changes anything.

BLOWER WILL ONLY BLOW OUT ON FLOOR POSITION NO MATTER WHICH POSITION I SELECT

These trucks have a problem where moisture builds up in the heater box then freezes. When this freezes and you change your heater settings it breaks the shaft for the blend door. If this is what happened you should be able to look under the dash above and to the right of the gas pedal and you will see two vaccuum accuators one of them you should be able to wiggle around the linkage if it is broke. To fix this you need to remove the entire dash to get the heater box out which involves discharging the AC and draining the coolant because the heater core and evaporator come out.

Either the switch is bad or the computer itself is bad. I would take it to a garage and have them check the computer to see which one is bad. A diagnotic should not be very expensive. Some garages don't charge at all if you have them fix it.

Your blend door is probibly not moving all the way to vent position. If you put it on vent there is probibly air blowing on floor or defrost. It may also be opening just a fraction and causing back pressure on the blower motor causing the noise. Is there any difference in outside air or recirculate?
