My Chev Cruze cuts out and refuse to start.Starter make a click sound and engine do not start, car display code 136

Sounds like loose battery terminals. Remove the bolts holding on the battery cables (usually 8mm for side mount, 10mm for top mount), clean the terminals with a rag or old tooth brush if there is corrosion. Tighten the cables down so they are snug. A vehicles starter draws a lot of amperage from the battery and needs a good solid connection or the starter motor will just "click". I hope this helps.

Ok might be my wires but I turn the engine from the outside it doesn't turn is it locked?when I try to start it,it clicks and sometimes when I try to start in it turns real slow and clicks

Hi Nelly:
I'd bet a bag of popcorn against a weekend at Pizmo Beach that the battery needs replacing or the terminals or connections are corroded.
First step - dis-connect NEGATIVE battery terminal.
Second step - disconnect Positive battery terminal.
Third step - Put battery on charger for at least 3 hours, preferrably overnight..
Fourth - CLEAN all connectors and terminals
Fifth - Re-install battery Connect POSITIVE terminal first and Negative last.

Try to start. If No go, try using jumper cables.
If it starts, Go buy a new battery, and a bag of popcorn.

Why won t my car turnover

  • Okay, a clicking sound is the solenoid engaging the starter drive gear but the starting motor is not turning over. First possible is low battery. Second is bad or dirty connection, usually battery terminal. Good enough to energize solenoid but not enough amps to spin starter. Third is a bad starter motor, usually a brush corroded, worn or stuck.
  • Lift the hood and look at the battery terminals. if they are clean and tight, check the battery for charge. I usually hook a booster on and try cranking the engine over. ZIf it works, charge or replace the battery.
  • If it didn't crank, Take a jumper cable and connect the one end to the battery positive. Touch the other end to the starter motor terminal. Motor should turn over, if not, replace the starter.

There is a clicking sound in my 1997 dodge caravan fuse box and the vehicle won't start. Lights won't turn on either, like the battery is dead but it's a new battery.

The clicking sound is the relay in activating mode, but there is not enough current to crank up the starter. The terminal cables connecting to the battery poles need to be cleaned so no high resistance limiting current flow from battery to the circuit. If you don't have enough current flowing into the circuit, starter is not cranking, head lights are not on, horn is not working. Use the sand paper to clean the inside ring of the cable terminals until they look shinny then put them back, you are good to go. Measure voltage across battery terminal with the volt meter. It should be more than 11.8 volts without the engine on. With the engine is on, it should be more than 13.0 Volts to ensure alternator is working.

Battery check ok only click when try to start cant even see the starter motor?

Clean both post and terminals by removing the terminals. the clicking sound, sound like not having a good ground or contact knowing the battery is good. I would also try to eliminate the battery and bad ground and starter, To see if your starter is good, go ahead and have someone jump your car by attaching the cable as Positive directly to your car Positive post and the Negative to your car good ground contact. do not hook it up to your car negative post. If the car start, than your starter is fine. If it doesn't start than you have a bad ground or weak battery. Replace battery or clean ground. If it does not turn your engine over than you have a bad starter. hope that help some.

When I turn the key, all I hear is the clicking sound. Battery appears to be okay, had it checked a month ago by Sears. A jumpstart doesn't work either.

It's the starter. You can probably get it started by finding a long steel rod, or a long garden rake stick(with the rake removed)...get under the hood, find the starter, and tap hard on the starter while someone in the truck is trying to start it. I mean really bang on the starter! It should start, but you will have to change the starter eventually.

Give it a try.

Battery good, wont turn over, just a click when try to start

it is most likley starter relay or starter.with vehicle in park and e-brake on have someone tap on the starter with hammer while your trying to start.if starter starts to crank then you know the starter is on the way out.if starter does not crank it may already be shot.srarter relay is on fire wall check power + ground.
