If all fuses in fuse box ok then check the fuse behind the radio unit, remove radio to access it!

Try to see if it lights up, maybe it is asking for a activation code. Otherwise check if the fuse behind the radio is ok.

I took the car off the battery then reconected the battery, now the car won't start, but all my interior lights, radio, and door locks still work. Is this a fuse??

You may need to clean the battery posts with a battery post cleaning tool. Sometimes, there will be enough of a good connection on the cables to get interior lights but not enough to turn the motor over. A good indication of this is if your interior lights dim a lot when you turn the key.

Look in the engine compartment for a fuse as well as a relay for your radio.
Could be there where you need to look.Vote if this helps ok.

Hi, check your battery connection. I have seen too many cars not start with a good battery due to a loose or corroded battery connection. Just take the old battery connection off the positive post of the battery, bring to Wallmart or auto part store, have them match the one you have, clean battery post with a scouring pad or sandpaper, install new connection to the post first, then connect the wires to the new connection and most important, tighten the bolts for the wires and the post really tight!!! If you can't remove the wire from the connection that connects to the battery post, clean the post with the connector off really well with a $3-$5 battery post cleaner available at any auto part store. If it is a side mounted battery post, make sure to clean all the crevices inside the terminal. Side mounted post battery's are harder to see corrosion because the post is not out, like a top mount battery, but inside the battery.

Volkswagon radio 2005 golf (2)

Not likely as a result of sitting too long, but there is a possibility that your radio went into theft mode when you cleaned the battery if you disconnected either of the terminals. The fuse for the radio is inside your car, likely in the fuse block on the end of the dash when you open your door. There should be a fuse block schematic either on the door removed to gain access to the fuse block, or in your Owner's Manual.

If it's a radio code issue you may need to consult with your VW Dealer. The radio, however, should power on and then provide you with some indication that the radio has gone into safe mode.

Battery cleaned now interior lights and radio not working

The problem could be an in-line fuse, close to the battery post. If for some reason the cables were put on backwards(temporarily) or the in-line fuse was pulled on or weak, it could have broke. Let me know if that helps.
