Question about 1996 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Non start HI, Have fitted a B16A2 engine to a 1996 civic and it will not start, engine is turning over but backfiring just as it sounds like its going to start, have checked all earths and feeds to ECU, cleaned Dissy cap and checked HT leads - OK, removed fuel injectors and actuated - OK, replaced spark plugs (Old ones filled with petrol due to cranking). Have not filled with coolant yet as I wanted to hear the engine running first. Does the B16A2 engine not start if no coolant is detected???

what we do is, conduct simple tests to find what is going on.
but first do that missed , 60,000 mile tune up, it might fix the problem
in FACT , tuneups are 100% designed to what, stop misfire.

my wild guess is it flooding.
are the spark tips (all) soaking in fuel , stalled?

thats one test, and is free, for any show with basic tools.

if you need more help tell engines option and country.

How to find out if loud knocking is piston or thrown rod, plus battery will not stay charged. This all happened after backfire and blown muffler

The only way to determine what it is would be to remove the sump from the motor, Either way you need another motor as the cost to repair will be greater than the cost to replace.

I need to find out what the engine size is of my honda civic 1995

looking at engine from front of the car , to the left of the exhaust manifold there will be a flat peice of engine block with the engine code stamped onto it. You will either see d16a1, d16a2, etc. that is the 1.6L SOHC engine. Some of the imported and Si models had the b16a2 . that is the DOHC

Will a cylinder head from a 1996 honda civc 1.5l non vtec work correctly on a 93 honda civic 1.5l non vtec

The 1996 civic has a 1.6L b-16 engine. The only difference between the v-tec and non v-tec engine is the dual overhead cam i believe. The 93 civic also should have a b-16 engine in it. The cylinder head should work.......
