Check your fluid level in resevoir-do not fill above line, it sounds like you need a new pump or possibly the fluid is contaminated... I recommend you replace both

Why does my 2008 chev Malibu drive like it has no power steering?

Are there an light's lit on the instrument your not familiar with ? DO you have regular Malibu or Malibu Classic ?
Also does yours have hydraulic power steering or Electric power steering ? GM had known problems with EPS - electric power steering . Your best bet would be to take it an have it checked out at a qualified repair shop .

Steering wheel stiffens when turning

Sounds like your power steering pump is low on fluid or worn out. Eventually it will just get so you have to fight to even turn it. Mine went that way and I had to replace the power steering pump.

My 1999 Toyota Rav, while driving, suddenly became difficult to steer...the peddles also stiffened up. The engine then cut off and the lights came on. Suggestions?

Difficult to steer:Possible power steering belt failure.

Bad alternator? Check voltage at battery.Needs at least 12 V. to enguage starter. Try jumping the battery from another vehicle.

Power steering light came on while driving.Lost power steering-2005 Malibu. How do I fix this

The electronic steering on your Malibu has some known issues. The manufacturer has announced that they are voluntarilly extending the warranty for the power steering systems for 10 years and it is under warranty regardless of ownership (it does not matter if you are not the original owner). I recommend going to the dealer - it will most likely get fixed for free.

My 2006 Malibu steering wheel is going bad.

The power steering is electric on that car. It has a electric motor on the column, and a control module. There are several causes that could be the problem. You need to have it scanned to get a better idea of what to do. If you can give me the codes you get then I will be glad to advise you on what's best. Good Luck

Steering wheel problems

if you have fluid in the steering tank, check the belt that drives the power steering pump, it might be loose or you could have lost it.

if it is not loose, then you could have the problem in the pump itself. it looses it's compression to drive the fluid out of the pump.

cheers,
