Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier
How is the engine running. Sometimes if the ECU encounters engine problems it disable the ETS system just to keep the engine running, if the ETS engaged with a badly running engine the engine might just stall. Alternatively you have a real speed sensor problem and the ETS has detected this fault. There are speed sensors on each wheel and on the final output shaft from the transmission. Check each sensor is clean and is well connected electrically. get your diagnostic codes read at Autozone and this will tell you if the fault is engine or speed sensor related.
