Question about 1999 Land Rover Range Rover

Can I (safely) disable my 1999 Range Rover 4.6 ABS and Traction Control by removing the 5amp fuse, 30amp fuse, or ABS relay from the engine compartment fuse box? I don't want ABS or Traction control on for now. They keep faulting and repeatedly blowing fuse 17 for BeCM...

I have a 1998 Range Rover HSE. The ABS, TC amd Brake light stay on and now I have noticed that it is becoming harder and harder to stop. It literally feels like I dont have any brakes at all. I have to pretty much push the brake petal all the eay down in order to get it to stop. I had the pads and rotors about 6 months ago and I don't know what to do! Help please

I have a 1999 Range Rover and I have the same problem, I have to pump my brake petal and push it all the way down to stop. I changed my master cylinder thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't and then took it to a mechanic and he bled the brakes and said my problem was that the ABS pressure switch was burned up.

How to turn off traction control on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Alexandre, check in your owners manual for small off button on the shifter under the large engage button. If you do not want traction control on in your vehicle check your manual for traction control fuse location and remove fuse. I can not say this is a wise thing to do, because your traction control is a safety feature for your vehicle. ABS braking system will be lost if you pull the fuse also. Pulling the fuse will disable abs, traction and stability control. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Is there a fuse to disable the traction control?

Hi Raymond
ABS & Traction control on a modern car can be more trouble than they are worth sometimes.
I have some not so fond memories of this.....
I was sideswiped by a drunk driver and ran through the bush into a small ravine and the vehicle flipped & crashed. All because the ABS wouldn't allow braking on dirt/gravel.
The cop told me that they often disable this by removing the Fuse when they are on their driver training track.
You will need a fuse description for your particular vehicle to isolate the so called "smart" traction control.

Good Luck

Brake peddle is chattering 2003 ion and would like to pull the anti lock brake fuse (if safe ) until i can afford the repair. I would like to know witch fuse to pull?ABS is on and traction control

If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control, the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.

Abs and traction contol light up

I'd have the brake accumulator checked. Try this. From a cold start, e.g., an overnight stop, release the handbrake (as it also operates the dash berake light), start the engine, and time how long it takes for the brake light on the instrument panel to go out. If it's up near 45 seconds, your accumulator is probably on the way out. They do fail after some years.

Range Rover P38A 2.5 DSE 1999 - 4 way TC light keeps blinking!

i have had this a couple of times, when they have diff trouble etc i take them to a place covered in shingle on concrete. when i figure of eight them around so everything is working hard i can detect which diff or what ever is wrong.
now when u do this for a certain amount of time, (some differ) u have to understand what happens, when round a roundabout, the wheels closer to the roundabout are turning slower, outter wheels faster as they have further to travel, this abs traction control are programmed to see it.
when u figure of 8 it gets mixed up, i have had three now had them reset and bingo. I know your abs sensors are fine as light goes like u said. the most expensive bits are working.
also i would like to add, i changed a battery on 1, the owner claimed the same prob. u have to bear in mind she could be pulling a fast 1. anyway i had it reset at my own expense as could not reason with hear, it was cured.
so there is other things there somewhere that up sets it, if u keep on figuring 8 it this does.
