When I have to replace PCV valve

The PCV valve is only needed to be replaced when it no longer works properly. Look for the PCV valve and disconnect it from the engine and from the vacuum supply.. The valve should be clean and rattle when shook.
Symptoms of a failed PCV can be poor idle quality, oily residue in the air inlet of the intake manifold or possibly fail emissions test.

Location of pcv valve on 2008 ford taurus 3.5

On 3.5L engines, the PCV Valve is located on the rear valve cover (see pictures bellow). Please note: the PCV valve must be replaced if it's removed. Access to the valve is easier if you remove the upper intake manifold. However, this is not absolutely necessary and if you are already a little mechanically inclined you can do it the way you would replaced any other PCV valve.

-A 19mm open wrench will make your life a lot easier if the PCV valve is a bit tight. It is in an awkward spot to apply pressure.

-Disconnect the electrical connector from the valve. There is a small pin or locking device on the wire that you will have to slightly depress for the connector to release.

-Disconnect the hose from the valve and turn the hose clockwise so that you have a bit of room to work with.

-Turn the PCV valve counterclockwise and remove from the valve cover. Pay close attention to the position of the valve at the point when it is to be removed. The new PCV valve will go in at that same position. Why is this important? It is possible to install the PCV valve facing in the opposite direction. Once the PCV valve in and locked it in place, it damages the locking mechanism. Therefore, if you remove it you will have to throw it away and purchase a new one.

-You just saved $130 - $150 to have the PCV replaced at the dealership...

Is the pcv valve replaceable in the 2001 Sunfire 2.2L engine or is it built in to the valve cover

Yes the PCV can be replaced. It seals into a rubber grommet in the valve cover. See pitcure of valve below.

How difficult is it to change the PCV valve. 2004

PCV is an acronym for positive crankcase ventilation.
The PCV Valve is a very common replacement item on many engines today. It's called the PCV valve for short but it stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. When your engine spins it many times collects pressure in the crankcase area, and it has to escape to relieve pressure on the motors bearings and seals. The PCV valve and PCV system is typically located near the intake manifold, and many times comes right off of the valve cover. It is very simple to replace the PCV valve, and you can do so by simply unscrewing it, and screwing in the new valve. We recommend using a little bit of teflon tape or paste to make sure you do not get any oil leaks.

Want to locate pvc valve on 2000 pontiac grand am 6 cyl

You'll find the PCV valve on the right side of the front valve cover. You'll need to remove the valve in order to troubleshoot it to determine if you need a replacement. To remove, pull the PCV valve out of the cover and detach the hose

Test the old PCV valve to determine if it needs replacing. Blow air through it in order to see if it is clogged. If it does not seem to ventilate, then you'll need to install a new valve.

Pop the new PCV valve into the spot of the old valve. With the correct part, it should snap right in. Take the hose and reattach it in order to complete the installation.

PCV valve for 2004 Hona CRV

PCV Valve Operation: 0900823d80049deb.jpgA vacuum-controlled metering device that regulates the flow of crankcase fumes in the positive crankcase ventilation system by allowing more flow at high speed than at low speed, and acts as a system shutoff in case of engine backfire to prevent an explosion in the crankcase.
Depending on your engine size, the PCV is a different style and slightly different location.

Usually they are mounted in a hole on your valve cover.... connected by a vacuum tube.
Some are mounted with threads into the engine block (usually by the oil filter)

On the '04 Crv - it is nearly inaccessible behind the AC compressor and beneath what looks like an old vacuum advance. Most PCV valves today do not need to be replaced, unless there is actual valve failure, which I have not seen happen. I would not be concerned about replacing it.
