Question about 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser

1 Answer

I have 1999 Landcruiser with 174000 miles and I have never had the timing belt changed. Am I driving on borrowed time? Should I need to replace the other belts as well as the water pump? Thanks

I have 115,000 miles on my car and it runs great. Do I need to worry about the timing chain/belt replacement?

If it has a timing belt, the belt should have been replace at around 80,000 miles. So you are running on borrowed time.
If it has a chain, the chain and gears are designed to last the life of the engine, or around 200,000 miles.

At what stage does the factory reccomend a timing belt replacement?

most diesel timing belts need to be changed every 60 to 80 thousand miles alway worth getting checked as if it snaps or skips teeth it can cause serious damage to the engine

I have 151,000 miles on my 2002 4cyl Camry and have not changed the timeing or the sepeitine belt: Is it time to have it done?

Hi:
It is overdue time to change your timing belt and waterpump, as you are on borrowed time on the timing belt. The waterpump and tensioner should be changed along with the timing belt, as they can ruin a new timing belt if they fail. Your serpentine belt should be inspected and replaced if needed too.

Does the nissan quest 1999 timing belt needs to be

The Quest has a non interference engine meaning that should the belt break the engine would just die without breaking anything. Nissan recommends 105K for changing but that depends on the way the vehicle was driven (driving habits), road conditions etc. If driving on roads for e.g. that are hilly, it labors the engine more thus shortens the lifespan of the belt according to mfg.

Question about timing belt

the factory wants the belt changed at 90,000 miles, u are living on borrowed time, if the belt breaks it can damage the crankshaft position sensor and that is more money, $500.00 is a little high shop around some more for a better prive $400 is reasonable, it is a gravy job as we say..

1999 Tercel. Timing belt/water pump interval change?

Hello tinaromano1: The factory specification are to replace the belt every 90,000 miles in severe service. I would recommend to replace at 90,000 no matter what the service would be. Keep in mind should the belt break there is always a chance engine damage may occur. Should you need further help just ask. Thank You for using FixYa. Roger

you know what happens if you don't.  Inspect the old one for hairline cracks and stretch and you decide.  I would also replace the drive belts and the water pump when I was in there?
