SOURCE: 2005 vw jetta gli turbo

The problem more than likely is the water pump. Like many VW's the water pump is plastic and it starts to fall apart after 50,000 miles. Coincidentally when you warranty ends.

not sure here but i suspect a wire insulation but i do feel this vehcile is too new for this sort of problem ,now as this is a 2008 model i would suggest the dealer as here in europe the software is encrypted so i could not read a code on this year without dealer internet encryption connection .

For a 2008 vw Passat, is it normal to burn 2 qrts of oil between changes? 4 cyl 2 0 turbo

VW RECKON that oil usage around 1/2 litre per 500km is acceptable !!!!!!!! yeah right...i suppose it does lubricate the turbo blades....and the exhaust pipe internally....you could use 20/50 instead of 5/40 that would cut it down, but not do much good to the engines long life..... VW reckon about 150,000m before rebuild.

How do you replace the seal in the oil cooler n a vw 1992 gli i have the part im just wondering what type of gue you would use ect....

Remove oil filter, remove 27mm hex nut holding oil cooler. Slide oil cooler off shaft, no need to remove coolant hoses. clean contact surfaces and apply grease lightly to assist seal to seat better. No need fos sealant unless contact surfaces pitted and then you can use a gasket maker sealant.

If there is no oil leak from the steering rack, check the first power steering oil pump. But if the steering wheel doesn.t turn at all-change steering rack.

Cant get the oil filter housing off

Jetta GLI figuring it's a VR6 use a 6 mm allen socket to remove the drain plug to empty the oil and reinstall it. The use a 36 mm socket to remove the oil filter housing, replace the seal and torque it to 25nm.
