No there is no manual release. Get a medium size flat screw driver and cover its flat end with electrical tape(so you don't scratch the paint on the car) and use it to pry open the gas fill door. A little careful prying is all it takes. You will see the latchas your prying. Hold the door with two finger on one hand and use the flat end to unhook the latch.

My gas door is locked and won't open on my 2001

Inside the truck behind the trim is a manual release for the gas door, the release looks like the head of a large key on a small wire string. It is marked.

My gas button to open my gas lid will not work whats wrong?

Use the manual release inside the trunk under the side carpet, after the door is released have someone push the release button and see if the little pin pulls back, if it does put a drop of oil on it and see if it cures the problem, I have seen this many times. If the pin doesn't pull back when the button is pressed replaced the gas door electric solenoid.

The release for the fuel door in my 2002 passat does not work (but the trunk release works) and I can not find a release in the trunk. Im almost out of gas and the dealers are closed for the holiday, is...

it sounds like to me the cable may have broke or came unhooked. i'm not sure with your car if you have one cable or two seperate cables going to trunk and the fuel tank. what you may be able to do, is take the cover off of the release and look at the cable if it is broke or unhooked you can take the piece of cable that is sticking out and use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull on the cable manually and it may release it.

I can't promise it, but in my 99 A4 there is a release cable in the trunk. I have to pull the trunk carpeting away on the side where the gas filler door is, and there's a red cable there that can be used as a manual release. I imagine your TT has one as well - look in the hatch on the side with the gas door, and pull the lining back - you'll probably have a release cable as well.

2001 audi tt -- trunk release and gas cap release don't work

Hi, yes there is. To release the trunk - look on the centre console, just rearward of the front seats and you will notice a separate rectangular section in the plastic, if you lift this out you will find a cable release for the trunk underneath. To open the fuel filler cap manually, look inside the car just behind the rear light on the same side as the fuel filler and you will notice a flap in the interior trim, which is to allow access to the rear lamp. Open this and then looking towards the top you should see a loop of orange plastic - pull this towards the rear of the car to release the fuel filler.
Hope that helps Matt..

How can the gas tank door be manually opened

Some cars have a release in the trunk for the gas tank door, not sure if the Saturn does though. It would be located near the door in the trunk. Is the release inside the car not working? If not, get a pair of vise grips and clamp them on the cable behind the pull or release and manually pull it, as it may have stretched out, and that could be why it's not working.

I have a 1988 saab 9000 and the fuel tank door wont open and i cant find the manual release for it

I had the same thing happen. There is no manual release, which means you have to replace the fuse that is blown causing it to lock. It was the central lock fuse in my case. But as I was almost out of gas and at the gas station, I had to pry it open....Not the best thing but it worked.

Gas cover stuck - manual backup?

my Jaguar X Type gas cap "sticks". I can open it by wedging a corner of a credit card in the left side or the cover, then go in the car and pull the lever. There are two flimsy metal bands that hold the cover in place and they sometimes bend and then the release doesn't work.  it should open easily with the credit card wedged in; then bend back the metal bands into shape.
