Refer manual for deatails, what is required is the wattage which is written on the bulb itself... then the mounting fitting type.

License plate lights arent working

You didn't forget to pull the headlight switch to check them? That's odd, usually license plate lights are spliced in from the tail light circuit.
There may be a separate ground for the license lights-if so, should be right nearby the bulbs. Use a test light or voltmeter and make sure fuse 22 has power. You could also check the sockets for power. If you have power to the socket and new bulbs don't work, it would be a grounding problem.

2001 license plate bulb

Use a screwdriver in the recess on the plate light. Pry out the light unit. Release bulb from the contact spring. Install the bulb using a reversal of the removal procedure. Make the tension of the contact springs sufficient to hold the bulb firmly.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 1999 ford expedition the license plate lamps do not work, I need to know where the fuse is located and the number pf the fuse

Most likely its the bulb thats gone, cause the fuse for the license plate light is the same as the parking lights, the fuse is in the fuse compartment, properly labeled, not hard to spot, it will show amp rating as well, but im sure its your bulb, remove housing with phillips screw driver, remove bulb, replace, reverse assemble, off you go...
Good luck...

How to cahnge number plate lights?

1). Open your Trunk and let it extend all the way up
2). Look up at the part of your trunk closest to the license plate.
3). There should be 2 wires, one going to the left light and one going to the right light. Follow the wire to the bulb, and twist counter-clockwise, or to the left to remove the bulb from the housing.
4). Replace the light bulb with the recommended factory bulb.
5). Repeat step 3 in the reverse order.

Burned out license plate bulb

open trunk,

remove felt liner from rear of trunk, (liner directly behind rear lights in side trunk) should be 4 plastic Phillips head screws. Loosing screws, then slowly peel liner away. You will see 3 nuts on each side, removing these nuts will loosing the rear light lenses, so you can pull the lense away from the body from the out side to gain access to the license plate bulbs. Re-install in reverse order. While in there I would recommend replacing your brake light and reverse light bulb. Hey your already in there might as well do a little preventive maintance.
