No override button. if all the fuses are good, then if i remember there is a switch by the shift lever that when you step on the brake it enables you to move the shifter.good luck

Brake sensor. It tells transmission, brake is depressed and allows you to shift out of park. Or check with diagnostic computer, free at some major retailers. Most likely a sensor, if not transmission may be bad.

2002 thunderbird gear shift override button location

There is no "gearshift override button" If the gear shift cannot be moved from PARK whith the key on and the brake pedal depressed, turn the key to the LOCK position and remove the key. Then re-insert the key and turn it one "click" to the OFF position (if the instrument cluster lights up, you turned it too far). The shifter will then be able to move. Place the shifter in NEUTRAL and hold the service brake while starting the engine. The shifter can then be moved to any position desired. If it is placed in PARK, you will have to repeat the procedure to get it going again.

Also, you should check your brake lamps. The shift interlock is probably not working properly due to a problem with your brake lamp circuit.

Trans sticks in park even after stepping on brake pedal many times

Check where the trans shift cable under dash bolts to the shift arm, sometimes the bolts get loose.

Won't shift,seems like it's stuck in park

If it's not making horrible washing machine noises, it sounds like it's low on fluid. Make sure the ATF is in the operating range with it running in Park.
