Valve Body and gear assembly - if your car is still in warranty, you should be able to pursuade VW to replace - let me guess - your mileage is between 80k - 100k?

Changed timing belt on 04 Touareg and now the truck mists. VAG-COM does'nt show any faults. Does this truck need to be reprogramed in order to accept the new timing?


no it doesnt thats for sure ,i think whats happened is you have wacked the valves doing the job ,do a compression test ,when you fit a belt always turn engine over with a rachet on front pulley nut 360? to ensure valves clear ,even the best of us can miss a tooth out when tightening the adjuster ,phone rings ,customer walks in or whatever and this is what i think has happened tighten the adjuster and its moved a notch ,wham bent valves

Is the clunk noticed as soon as the brake pedal is released? Your brake shoes engage in the rear drum when the brake pedal is pressed and then release as the brake pedal is released. Your shoes may be worn and might be "hanging up" for a brief period, that would make a clunk sound your describing

yes, you need a piston retract tool for the rear cylinders. rear piston must turn clockwise as it is being retracting.

Fuel Filter Location


If it's the 3.0 V6 TDi the filter is at the rhr corner of the engine compartment - 3 hoses onto top, 4 torx screws hold it together.
