Question about Lexus ES 300

1 Answer

I have a 1993 Lexus es300..... after it sits for a couple hours sometimes the transmission is very slow to engage, like its still in park. Sometimes it takes several seconds, sometimes just a couple of seconds. I can rev the motor to 3000 rpm and nothing. Once it does engage though its fine, it shifts fine, no issues. clutch discs just replaced as well as the steel belts.

Check to make sure the transmission has enough oil or put in new oil. It could also need a new transmission filter if that is applicable. Anything other than that and you are getting more expensive most likely.

My 2001 es300 lexus automatic will not engage in all the gears feels like its still in park when i shift through all the gears and the check engine light is not on wats my troubleshooting please help

check the linkage connection on the transmission, it sounds as if you may have lost a connecting pin. Most likely a two person effort as you need someone to shift the lever, and another to observe the movement at the transmission. Don't need the engine running to do this, in fact recommend you do NOT run the engine, and use wheel blocks to prevent the car from moving as you shift gears.

Shift lever repair

Most likely the shift cable that connects the shifter to the transmission if you can find where it connects to the transmission check there first sometimes they can get disconnected. then if your shifter is in the center console take the cover off and make sure shifter is still connected to cable. If that's not the problem and the cable is moving at the transmission then it's a problem inside the transmission

I have a 1998 lexus gs400. every time my car sits for a few hours when i put it into drive i have to rev it up or just sit there for a while for it to go into drive or reverse. when i rev it up it moves...

Sounds like your just low on transmission fluid my friend. Check the fluid level with engine running and I park. If nothing or very little on the dipstick, put in the required amount of proper fluid to bring it up to the full mark on the dipstick.
