Question about Chevrolet Cavalier
First a saftey feature is you have to step on the brakes and brake lights have to come on. If this is the case check all fuses.
If thats ok
If shifter is on floor depress lock and check release you can bypass but not safe to.
If all okay start checking the linkage.
Check cable on botton of steering colum shifter bolts may come loose
