Remove whats ever in the way of the manifold you don't have to remover the compresser then remove all the manifold nuts then pry back the manifold so you can see intake holes next to the intake holes there are 4 small holes they get plugged up use a wire brush or a coat hanger clean the holes use carbon cleaner spray with small tube attached to nossil spray all holes till clean also the manifold has a channel on the inner side clean that also you can feel it when you put your finger on the inner side of the manifold you don't have to remover the manifold to do this like I said pry it back so you just have enough room to clean those holes and manifold . having a shop do it will cost a lot especially a dealer . good luck

Why would you buy a Saturn, you surely know, their no longer made, that will be an issue going forward.

Egr Valve code, may indicate the need to replace it.

You don't go to inspection with check lights on,have the system scanned next time, before going.

Check engine lite on .pull codes p404. Also has lite miss on easy acceleration from stop.Need to pass state emissions test

P0404 EGR circuit range just replace the EGR,the light miss is from your egr pintle being stuck open. either you clear the code with a scan tool or if you dont have one it will take 2 trip of no emission problem for the ECM to clear the check engine light,

When all the monitors have run their tests then it will pass emmissions providing that your repairs were successfull...You need to drive it for at least 75 miles so that it can complete its tests....

System not ready...idle varies from 1000 to about wont pass emiss

I changed the Idle Air control Valve and it lowered the idle speed for about a week, when you remove the old one make sure you don't move the valve spring rod because will need to set the new one to match. I spoke to a mechanic and he told me that it may be the Catalytic Converter causing the issue. I haven't had that checked yet but the (IACV) didn't solve my issue.

99 saturn sl1 wont pass inspection

Louis, Heres what you need to do. The "system not ready" is indicating there is an emission device the ECM can't control.
Take your car to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts and ask them to scan for codes, they will do it for free.
Any other issues, like low coolant temperatures, engine missfires, high idles?
Let me know.

Please Help... p0404 and p0137 Error Codes (1999 Saturn SL1)

hey if you truely think it is your egr valve unhook it and if that is the problem then when it is unhooked it should run better and the codes should not come up. hey if you cahnged the 1 o2 sensor and not the other you probably made the code for the one u repalced come up again. i would recommened that you change both of the o2 sensors at the same time. try checking if your catalatic convert is plugged. how you do this is take a dollar bill and hold it at the end of your tail pipe while it is idleing and if the dollar bill stays still you have a plugged catalatic converter.
