I'm guessing by the year that you have pretty high mileage on your SUV. If that is the case then you will probably need to rebuild front end. that should take care of the problem. Good luck.
actually the answer is most likely no. rangers up to 1997 are i beam. trucks after are aarm and use a completley different shock set up. to even fit the shocks you would need wheelspacers and even then a-arm shocks are coilover type and the studs for holding the struts on an ibeam truck will not hold the weight of the vehicle. so definitley not.

Since your vehicle is a 1998, its just about the right age for
the OEM shocks to fail.
Checking your shocks:
1. take off rear wheel & check for fluid leakage from the upper 1/2 of the shock - presence of fluid
indicates shock failure.
2. get in truck bed over the axle and jump up & down. Excessive play/bounciness indicates shock
failure.
Ok first off if the vehicle is equipped with air ride you need to turn the air ride off or you will blow out the rear bags when the rear is off the ground.
For the front Remove the wheel. Take off the upper shock nut. Now remover the two lower retaining nuts. Compress the shock and pull it out. Install in reverse order. Before installing the new shock push the piston completely down and allow it to return. Do this 2 to 3 times.
For the rear remove the wheel support the rear end with jack stands at the jack points. Now use your jack (not a scissor jack) and place it under the rear diff to support the rear diff. If you have another set of jack stands use them and support the rear axle as it sits.
Remove the lower shock bolt. Now remove the two upper shock bolts and the shock will come right out.
The shocks are worn? If the rest of the truck is in good shape i'd say it's definately worth replacing. All four shocks installed shouldn't run more then $600.
