Dont continue to let it run check and make sure you have oil in your engine block. its possible it my be low or leaking. putting the wrong oil on that model wont make that light go off. please check oil soon as possible.

The "wrong oil" wouldn't do that - not immediately, anyway. More probable is they may have forgotten to fill the engine with oil when they changed it last. Have you checked the dipstick to see if the oil level is correct? If you do not see oil on the dipstick, do NOT run the engine! Have it towed to a different mechanic, and have it inspected to see if there is any permanent engine damage. You may have cause for a claim against your mechanic.

1998 adui a4 oil ligth come on oil level OK th oil has just being change

If no noises from engine it's likely possible that the oil pressure switch went bad. If you don't change you oil often there's a possibility that there may be sludge build up and possibly clogging the pick up. If you go more than the recommended amount of mileage/time between oil changes I would recommend an engine flush.

Oil level should not be confused with oil pressure. Oil level is how much oil is in the crank case (oil pan) It is checked on the dip stick when the engine is off. Oil pressure is produced by the oil pump when the engine is running and it is forcing the oil through all of the internal passages and bearings, and everything that need lubrication in the engine. you can have good oil pressure even if the engine is 2 quarts low (not that being low is ok) but if you loose oil pressure it means the pump is no longer pushing oil through the engine and it will seize up and be ruined in a very short period of time. It used to be that all cars had an oil pressure gauge on the dash but few people pay any attention to the gauges and know what they mean so car makers have taken to the so called "idiot" light. Since they don't put a gauge on the dash the only way to know if you really have low pressure is to have a mechanic, temporarily install an external mechanical gauge and measure the pressure. If this happened while it was at the quick lube shop they may have done something far worse than install the wrong filter. If, however you drove it home, and it's not making any unusual noise it's is probably ok. If it truly had no oil pressure it would lock up in a matter of minutes. If you were able to get it home you can probably drive it back with out hurting anything. I can't think of how a wrong filter would cause this problem, it could also be that they knocked the wire to the oil pressure sensor loose. If your shop wants to keep you as a customer they ought to be willing to pick up the tab for having it towed back to their shop, it certainly doesn't hurt to ask.

Low oil pressure warning keep coming up but my oil pressure is fine

Could be a few things, first Get it checked with a mechanical gauge to test low motor oil, clogged oil filter, bad oil pump, clogged oil sump (pick up tube) or bad oil sending unit. Then replace sending unit sensor.

2004 envoy sounds as if it has no oil. no oil lights are on though. where should the oil pressure gauge be ? the need is in the middle. It sounds as if it is riding hard. I remember a car I had that...

The Envoy's oil pressure gauge is not showing actual oil pressure, the computer calculates the reading based on engine RPM and the on or off signal from the oil pressure switch. You need to first check the oil level on the dipstick, than have a mechanic put a manual oil pressure gauge on the engine to read the actual oil pressure.

When the engine temperature is cold the oil pressure will climb depending on the RPM's. If I keep the RPM's below 1800, the oil pressure will remain at 3/4. If I go beyond 1800 RPM's with the engine block...

You need to have a mechanical test gauge hooked up to see if this is a false reading, this special gauge goes into the oil sender tap in the block and will let u know for sure if the pressure is to high cold, if it is the most common issues are wrong weight of oil, do u use oil heavier than 10W-30W? any other oil like 10W-40W will cause high oil pressure readings, the reason is the very tight rod and main bearing clearance's the engines now use, it is only about 1/2 the clearance of older engines, that is so the new fuel saving thin oils can be used.

Oil pressure gauge drops when de-exacelration

I had the same problem with My jeep, when i took it in to a shop, they couldn't find any problems, , after about 5 shops and a ton of headaches from the low oil pressure warning, they found out that the gauge had gone bad, you may want to look into it as well.
