We can send you instructions, but are you sure it's the pump? The pump is a lot of work to change and expensive too. Is the pump getting voltage? What is the model/year and engine of the truck?

Most Ford trucks have the fuel filter on the inside of the left chassis rail. If it's a newer fuel injected engine, the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. To give more info, we need to know what year and model truck and what engine.

I'd definitely try the filter first. It's cheap and relatively easy. You'll need to get the fuel line disconnect tools from any auto supply store. They should be able to help you with that. Also, get a repair manual to guide you through the appropriate steps.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana that ran out of gas, I put 2 gallons in it and now it won't start

Turn the key to run and listen to see if the electric fuel pump is running. If it is, allow it to run for 30 seconds before turning the key to start. This will allow the pump to push enough fuel to the fuel rail so the injectors have something to spray.

Why won't my car stay running after it ran out of gas

Most newer cars are very sensitive to being ran low on gas. The fuel pump is in the tank and relies on fuel to cool it down. Your fuel pump is now probably not pumping the required pressure for the fuel injection system to work properly (or at all).

Ran out of gas and now it won't start after adding 5 gallons

the fuel pump is cooled by gas so if u run it low alot or {OUT} it can burn it up

My 2001 L Series Saturn ran out of gas, then after 1 gallon of gas was added to the tank, the engine would not turn over. Any suggestions for how to get it to start?

the fact that it won`t turn over is just a coincedent it happened when you ran out of gas.i`m assuming that you mean the motor won`t turn over at all and not that you mean it will turn over and not start.if it is the latter then the fuel needs time to fill the lines and pressurize the fuel system while cranking over.

Ran out of gas......

Sounds like fuel pump burned out when you ran out of gas. probably ran dry for about 20 sec till engine quit. Check for power to fuel pump in tank. Most likely fuel pump will need replacement . Hope this helps

2004 nissan titan...ran out of gas

Good chance that even on 4 gallons it may not start I would try for more, prime the fuel pump several times by turning the key on and leaving it on for around 5 seconds then shutting it off and repeating, obviously not trying to start. I've had cases where even small FWD cars won't start even on 4 gallons on a 12 gallon tank. The newer fuel pumps are a closed system that only allow a small portion of fuel into the pump housing to keep contamination down. Let me know if after adding a few more gallons it won't start we will trouble shoot from there. Thank you for using fixya.com
