If your talking about the valve body and electrical shift plate for the transmission then yes those components can cause the vehicle to go into limp home mode and not let the vehicle shift gears. Generally the valve body is not able to be repaired just replaced. same goes for the electrical shift place.

The valve body generally can be found used for around $200-$300. A brand new one is dealer only and can be quite expensive. As for the shift plate, gasket,filter,13-pin elec connector and 5qs of fluid runs $334. Labor is around 3hrs. Prices and times vary at each service center. This is the estimated cost I would give out to a customer.

Hi, the lifters can be noisy of luck of oil. Check what oil should be used on your car specification. If they still noisy that mean you need to replace them.

Changing engine oil every 5000 KM or every 2500?

The service duration is affected by many things.. If you are driving in a dusty atmosphere or doing a lot of high RPM but low gear driving, change the oil every 2500kms. if you do mainly highway driving with low rpm but top gear, change the oil every 5000 kms. As a rule, I always replace the oil filter at every oil change even though toyota says you dont have to.

BMW 523 Auto gerbox when cold change from 1 to 2 gear is hard

hello there

The problem is with the gear oil. To keep ahead of the rest BMW started what they call life time oil for their gear boxes, though that sounds great it doesn't really work in reality, they have now gone back to recommending a gear oil change every 60k miles.

In short you need to change your gear oil and soon, the oil in your gear box is no longer effective and will damage the gear box. You'll need about 5 litres for your car and costs around £15 a litre, expensive stuff!! I had the same problem with my 328i auto, the dealer was clueless and kept quoting the lifetime oil, I changed the oil and the problem has gone and it's so much smoother.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.

It is very difficult to engage the first gear of my skoda fabia

Exchange the transmission fluid with a synthetic lube for easier engagement. Shift to second first before shifting to first helps as well.
