2002 disco II hard to start if it sits 15minutes. It takes 3 or 4 cranks to get started. Once started it runs great and there are no fault codes.

Take it to the dealer.. Theses guys are jokes on this website and could not solve a starting problem if the car just needed gas as a fix. What a joke...

Firstly, when this happens, remove a plug lead and connect another plug, earth it against the block and try to see if you have a spark, if you do, then refit the plug lead to the plug. Then its a fuel problem, but before changing the regulator, have you checked the fuel filter , that its not blocked? I once had similar problem with a jag, and that turned out to be a bad fuel filter.

Just hard to start, 3 cranks when sitting for 15 minutes or more... once started runs great, no misfire, stutter or lag. I'll replace the fuel filter to make sure as I have already found it seems to be fuel or vacuum related and not spark. Fuel filter is the cheap start...

2004 gmc sonoma why does it take 2-3 times cranking before it starts and only does it sometimes?

install pressure gauge and watch when key is turned off to see if pressure drops to zero if so bad drain back valve in fuel pump replace it or deal with it or could be cheap aftermarket pump and has hard time building unnecessary pressure to open poppet valves between before fuel injectors

I have a 2002 chev silverado 2500HD duramax 4x4, The truck starts only when given a shot of quick start in the airbox. After it runs great you can shut it off then re start it fine. It will not start...

You need new glow plugs. Im guessing you live somewhere kind of cold maybe. It starts just fine after running because the motor is already warm. Quick start will work.....or at least it did for me until I used one mornig and went to crank and BOOM. It blew my air filter case to pieces and caught the filter on fire. Starting fluid is not meant for diesel motors. If you cant afford new glow plugs what worked for me is turn on the key all the way but dont crank wait 10 sec then repeat a few times and it should crank unless its really cold out or the plugs are really bad. Trust me thats what it is. I replaced mine and now It cranks right up even when its super cold.

I have a 2002 duramax 2500HD. the garage replaced the glow plugs because it would not start. Left the garage with it got it home and it once again won't start. Runs fine once started, no smoking at all, no...

you are getting air in the fuel sys. pump on top of filter push it several times until it gets a little resistance . then try to crank it may take a few seconds . it happens after hard driving or sitting for a while.

Hard to start cold but once running is ok

I believe you have a throtle body correct? IF so you have poor fuel pressure, plugged filter of injector. If by some miracle you have a carberated engine the the fuel is leaking from the bowl. Get a carb rebuild kit.

Starts cold and will run for around 10 min. Then it will just die. If i let it sit overnight it will crank up again and run for awhile before failing agin. I have looked and on the 2000 LR Disco II there...

I had a problem with your chat this morning so I am going to answer for you here. You stated that the car runs for ten minutes then quits and will not restart, if you can the first thing I woulddo is take itto a partsstore who rents out a pressure tester and pressuer text your fuel pump, disconnect the rubber hose on the fuel regulater and turn the ingtion switch to the run poastion for two seconds and watch the gauge. The pressure should read 60 PSI if not there is something wrong withthe fuel pump and if it reaches 50 PSI it should hold pressure to 30 psi FOR ONE FULL MINUTE, if it does not then replace the pump, if it holds pressure then remove the fuel pump and replace the fuel sock and fuel filter. let me know if this helps I will be watching for posts on this to contine to troubleshoot this for you.

98 Escort Hard starting when hot

sounds like a dodgy mis reading of a sensor caused by electrical resistance which is turning choke on and flooding engine.know the fault but without car in front of me its difficult to diagnose, could be auto choke sensor which is on right hand side of cylinder head ,but not is probally dealer have you tried spark plug gaps ??25th although this would cause problems with cold starting not hot starting but its worth a look

Long Crank times before starting

Sounds like it could be losing fuel pressure to the rail, try turning ignition on for 10s, then off then on then off then try start. That should make sure the pump has pressurised so will see if it is pressure.
