My glove box does not open. The glove box is stuck in the closed position, the handle did not break off,no plastic pieces broke off,the flap you lift up on has no tension

think like a thief... pry it open with some big flathead screwdrivers on each side of the latch

then, you can go from there and see if the handle/latch can be fixed

How do I replace the glove box latch on a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass GLS?

Most will have a row of screws just across the bottom of the door, either on the outside(look up from the floor) or a row of screws inside the door. Open the glove box and look at very bottom edge.

The glove box door opener handle broke off on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What my best and cheapest way to repair it? Thanks, Joe

Try car dismantlers or scrapyard. Get the whole glove box door and it wil cost you much less then new one.

The handle broke off of my glove box and now i can't get it open. Suggetions?

depends on the year. look up from the bottom and if you can get at the screws holding the door on, then remove them and the door will fall down. you can buy replacement glove box doors on eBay.

Broken handle to glove box in my Galant

This happened in my '01 galant as well. If you take a peek under where the handle used to be, there's a little square nook with a spring and a little plastic tab. take a key and stick it right above the tab and press down, and the glove compartment should just pop right open. If it doesn't work, then it's probably just locked. Just unlock the door and try it again.

Changing Blower motor on Chevy '98 4x4

It's simple!...Open glove box door...youll see a plastic shell that is the glove box rear portion. You should find 4, 9/32nds or 7mm (same thing just SAE or Metric) screw heads. Undo four screws and with a flat blade screw driver, gently pry out on shell at either side to clear the door straps. Once clear, just work out of resting place, set aside. You will now see like 5 relays mounted on top of the air handler. Remove bracket that holds four of them + one that is mounted alone. Pull out of the way. Checking both inside and outside, remove all screws, bolts, nuts as it were, until it is obvious there are none left. Now, this is assuming this is where your problem lies! If you are simply having a blower problem, it might be the blower module mounted right beneath and just behind relays on top of air handling box. Just take your time so you dont break anything. Good luck...theroad......

If the glove box is anything like mine it is a modular piece assembled with screws.... let them break the handle.. get a replacement first from a junk dealer and have the broken part swapped out. Its like a seat belt catch in my 97 deville. The glove box in mine flopped open and the catch had broken and fell down the door of the glovebox itself. The whole door is assembled with philips screws and should be easily removed and a new latch put in.. whoever does it should not cost more than 50.00 in labor MAYBE unless you have a friend that would do it for a beer. I saw a complete glove box on ebay for 40.00 shipping ontop of that .. i saw the latch for 20.00 +shipping.

1999 olds cutlass glove box removal

you need to remove all the screws on the bottom of the glove box on the outside, then on the inside remove all the screws too. and then pull it out. sometimes some glove boxes have stoppers on the edge of the door inside and you have to pry on them to pull the stoppers in front of the side of the glove box so you can remove it entirely from the dash.
