Question about 2000 Cadillac Escalade
The lock mechanism for part is operated by a small solenoid, this solenoid is powered by the brake light circuit, so when the brakes are pressed the solenoid releases the part lock by pulling the electric solenoid plunger back, so if u have no brake light then the car remains locked in park, check and make sure u have brake lights, if not check the brake light switch under the dash above the brake pedal, it should have 12+volts in and out of the switch when the brake pedal is depressed, if no power out of switch but has 12 volts in the switch is defective or out of adjusment.
