Question about 2003 Honda Civic

1 Answer

The A/C in my 2003 Civic LX recently quit working. My mechanic says the compressor isn't getting any power, but doesnt have the ability to do the computer diagnostics. He thought the computer needed fixed and to take it to a dealership. Could it be something as simple as a fuse or relay switch?

There is a pressure switch in the expansion tank that lets the compressor know there is freon and it is safe to turn on. It can be checked easily with a multimeter set on ohms. If you get zero ohms the switch is closed and that isn't your problem. If it shows infinity, the switch is not made. This could mean a bad switch or low freon.

I have a 03 honda civicand the air conditioner wont work? it doesnt need recharged and the light comes on when i push the button but i get no cold air? any ideas?

I have the same problem right now, and from what I can figure, it looks like an intermittent thermal protector switch on top of the AC compressor. My 2003 Civic air conditioning works fine for 20 minutes or so and then stops working. If this switch is faulty, the compressor clutch won't engage and you won`t get cold air. I will get it replaced soon, but it seems like the access is not easy.

2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

90000 Miles on the Timing Belt. Do not let this go! A timing belt failure can cause internal engine problems.

Should cost around 200 or so, depending upon your local labor rates.

Good Luck!
