Hi,

Check the headlight relay first. They just unplug from the fuse box. It's probably something in the relays or wires have shorted and melted. Take your car to the auto zone to get it tested.

My 92 cadillac deville shift at 30mph and 6th do. You think it's the transmission .speed sensor

Check the vacuum line or hoses that run from the transmission to the engine. It may have come loose or you have a vacuum leak. If your vacuum is fine, you should change the modulator on the side of the transmission. That's what determines when your transmission shifts. Note..sometimes the diaphragm inside the modulator will burst and allow fluid to enter the vacuum line, so look forfluid in the line also.

Cadillac deville pouring transmission fluid

transmission lines to radiator is leaking. The radiator will help cool the transmission fluid in most vehicles, and these lines can get crimped or become loose during normal vehicle maintence. Replace the lines and connectors, and recheck transmission fluid level. MIght just be a loose connection you could possibly tighten up. Busted or cracked radiator?

Hard time cranking 1998 cadillac deville. when finally cranked it smokes and seems to run really rich. can you help

Hello: remove the silver cover on top of the engine, you will see the injectors on top and the fuel rail. On the back of the fuel rail you will see a small round item with a small vacuum line going to it. start the car let it run a minute or two, shut it off. remove the small vacuum line, if there is gas in it the the pressure regulator is bad. There are several other items that could cause this but this is the most common.

Shut car off and remove keys, headlights will go off and come back on and now it's overheating and can't find any leaks

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose). The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.
If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage.
The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side close to the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.
