How to flush coolant on 2004 grand prix

  • Move your badass w-body (a.k.a. Pontiac Grand Prix) to a level area and set the parking brake. Pop the hood and touch the radiator. If it's warm let it cool before you continue.
  • Twist the radiator cap one full turn (Remember to be careful because even when radiators are cool they can still erupt coolant)
  • Place any type of container (bucket [but has to be able to hold 2 gallons]) underneath the radiator and blow the drain plug. (The drain plug on your Grand Prix is on the driver's side bottom of the radiator facing the engine.)
  • Loosen the drain plug and let the old coolant to drain completely. (You may need a wrench to loosen the drain plug)
  • Dispose the old coolant in a sealable container (The coolant is very toxic to people and pets, so you gotta be careful)
  • Shut the radiator drain plug and fill the radiator with water.
  • Run car for a little bit and repeat the process again. (Let car cool, and drain water)
  • Close the drain plug and fill the radiator with fresh coolant until it's about an inch from overflowing. (DO NOT USE ORANGE DEX COOLANT IT IS HARMFUL FOR YOUR HEADGAKETS) You will need 3 gallons of coolant (SE, GT, GT1, GT2, GTP, GTP Comp G.) and 4 for the GXP model. Be sure to check the drain plug for any leakage.
  • Start your car and turn the heating system to high. Allow the car to keep running until the cooling fan turns on twice. After that happens, switch off the engine and check the coolant level. If it went down, add more coolant. If not, put the radiator cap back on and close the hood.

Drain coolant

If it has one it will be in the bottom of one of the radiator tanks.
Most cars don't have one anymore.
You have to loosen the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant.

Where is the thermostat on a 1995 1.8 liter toyota carroolla

The thermostat is located in the housing that the lower radiator hose goes on to, if you follow the lower hose from the radiator to the engine , remove the hose from engine by removing the clamp and sliding hose off. You will need a container to catch the coolant that will run out when the hose is removed, to do this a little neater, locate the drian valve on the bottom of the radiator and just turn to loosen valve and drain coolant there first, make sure to remove the rad cap to drian cooling system better. also keep container under the hose you remove to catch the small amount of coolant that will flow out and once the thermostat is removed coolant will run out from engine. with the hose off you will see 2nuts to move and then housing comes off and theres the thermostat. Hope this is helpful.

How do i drian the radiator to put in new coolant

there should be a petcock on bottom of radiator. just turn it, to open up drain. if it does not have a radiator cap, fill from coolant tank while running. release air from coolant line, if needed. just put coolant in tank to proper level, also turn heater on high. to get through whole system. run for a while then check coolant level.

I need to drain the antifreeze where is the plug from the engine block

The textbook method is to remove the drain plug. Most drain plug is make of nylon/plastic and it may fall apart while you turn it.

The professional method is to loosen the lower radiator clamp and drop to lower radiator hose.

Drain the coolant onto a large drain pan and recycle the coolant

I need to drain my radiator, can you tell me where the drian plug is?

Hi TL,

It's easier to find if you're underneath the front end looking up. On the bottom of the radiator you'll see a small almost wingnut shaped protrusion. That is the drain plug.

Just turn it counter clockwise and the coolant will start draining.

Remember: Anti-Freeze is harmful if ingested by pets. Catch the coolant in a pan to dispose of properly.

Best regards
Mike
