Question about 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser
I do not really have a solution but I do have a couple of ideas of what it probably is.It is so intermittent that it is probably a bad/loose connection within the oil level sensor wiring or a frayed wire.A frayed wire usually will burn a fuse, but not always. As long as your oil level is fine and the temperature guage works the same as always, not the slightest over what it has always been, there should be nothing wrong with the oil pump as far as starting to go bad and cannot keep up with the system and you could easily spend alot of money just trying to figure it out or just replacing the wiring.Intermittent is almost always a wiring/connection problem.Just check your oil every 500-750 miles to make sure there is no leaking and you will be fine(for peace of mind?)I would. If the bell is annoying enough, there probably is a way to disable it if you really want to.I am not sure where it is on your car.I have a check coolant light which comes on every other month.I add an 8 oz. glass of water to the overflow and it goes off.I have had a pinhole leak for at least 7 years.1 more comment to add. When things like this happen,a friend of mine used to say'It must have been made on a Friday or a Monday'because either they were hungover or couldn't wait to leave.lol Good luck !
