How to drop gas tank on 2005 CTS Cadillac

Much easier if the tank is empty. Siphon or pump the fuel out of the tank. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise the vehicle and install jack stands to ensure the vehicle is not going to drop on you. There are mechanical straps that hold the tank in place. There are also electrical connections for the fuel pump and fuel lines to be disconnected. Place a jack under the tank to support it and then remove the straps holding the tank in place. Lower the tank enough to gain access to the fuel lines and electrical connection. Disconnect the electrical and fuel lines and lower the tank until it clears the vehicle.
Be VERY careful with the fuel that was drained and whatever fuel remains in the tank. It is very dangerous.

Where is the fuelpump in a 2001 olds alero

There should be a couple bolts holding the
tank straps on.

Not really a driveway job, better on a lift

There are very few if any vehicles, that ever
have access from the trunk or under the rear seat

I'm not aware of any GM Vehicles that ever had that

the fuel pump is in the gas tank, the tank must be dropped down(all fuel/vacume lines disconnected and wiring) and it comes out the top of the tank, there is a lock ring that holds it locked in place.

How do you drop the fuel tank on a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan to replace the fuel filter?

On most these, there are two tank straps which are bolted to the undercarriage which hold the tank in position. It's easier to do with the tank empty or very close to empty. Place something under it to support it such as a jack and remove the bolts holding the tank straps in place, that should let the tank drop out, then you can remove the connections for fuel and electrical.

Our 2004 yukon has become Hard Starting. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the Fuel pump. Sometimes it starts on the first turn of the key and the next time we will have to try starting twice. I...

First you have to make sure there is little to no fuel in tank. Drive vehicle untill it is almost empty. Then disconnect fuel pump relay and fuse. Try to start vehicle to relieve fuel pressure. If you do not have a hoist elevate the vehicle on 4 jack stands. Disconnect the fuel line and return line nearest tank. Disconnect filler hose fron tank. Place 18" x18" piece of plywood on hydraulic jack and place under and against middle of tank. Disconnect straps holding tank in place. Lower tank slowly untill you can disconnect electrical connectors. Remove tank and change pump. There is a ring holding sending unit and pump on tank. this ring can be moved with a mallet. Make sure to clean off all debris from top of tank before removing sending unit. Remove sending unit carefuly and remember where float is orriented in tank.

I need the location on where the fuel filter is located on a 1998 dodge caravan sport 3.3L flex fuel.

I believe the fuel filter is under the vehicle and over the fuel tank. You'll have to drop the tank to access the filter. Loosen the nut on both ends of the filter and gently seperate. Replace new filter and retighten the nuts. Secure the tank back.

Put a jack (for a flat tire) under the fuel tank, so you could control how far it dropped. Then remove the two screws that hold the fuel tank straps. The screws come out, the fuel tank is loose, lower the tank by lowering the jack. Now it is easy to reach the filter. One screw holds it in place. Unscrew it, it comes right out. The tricky part is figuring out how to unplug the fuel lines. Look at the replacement filter, note how the plastic piece inside each fuel line has to be squeezed to remove it. You need to squeeze the old ones the same way to release them. It isn't easy. Squeeze the plastic piece that is holding the hose in place until you can work it out. A few drops of gas will dribble out. The gas is NOT pressurized. Unsnap the old hoses, snap in the new ones (much easier). Screw the new filter into place. Jack the fuel tank back into place. Screw the straps back on. Clip the ground strap in place where the old one was. You're done.

I need to know how do i change a fuel pump on a 1994 lincoln town car

  • First, you need to make sure you only have a gallon or so left in the tank. Siphon off the gas into an approved container.
  • Place the car in jack stands for easier access to the gas tank.
  • You will need to remove the fill hose and vent line from the filler neck.
  • Place a floor jack under the fuel tank; remove the straps that hold the tank in place. Carefully lower the tank.
  • You will need to remove the gas lines and vapor lines going to the tank. You may need a special tool for this. You can purchase at a local auto parts store. The tool is placed on the fuel line then pushed into the connector pushing back the fingers that hold the connector together.
  • After disconnecting lines and wires to tank drop tank all the way to the ground.
  • If you have the old style, you will need a flat screwdriver and a small hammer to remove the retaining ring that holds the assembly onto the tank. There is three tabs to tap on with the screwdriver and hammer. The new style requires a strap wrench to unscrew the retainer.
  • With the retaining ring removed you can remove the assembly from the tank.
  • Replace the fuel pump and the fuel strainer.
  • Assembly reverse procedure.

WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER LOCATED ON A 1999 DODGE,CARAVAN?

The filter is tucked in over the fuel tank. Here's how I replaced mine... I put a jack (for a flat tire) under the fuel tank, so I could control how far it dropped. Then I removed the two screws that hold the fuel tank straps. Unsnap the old hoses, snap in the new ones (much easier). Screw the new filter into place. Jack the fuel tank back into place. Screw the straps back on. Clip the ground strap in place where the old one was. You're done.
