What is O2 light censur on my 1992 Isuzu trooper

Hi there,

An O2 sensor (also known a HEGO or HO2s) is an electrical 'probe' which is screwed into your exhaust pipe/s (you will see an electrical wire connecting into your exhaust pipe).

Each exhaust pipe will have an O2 sensors (sometines 2 per side - one mounted in front of the catalytic converter and one after the converter).

An HO2 sensor is responsible for heating up the exhaust gas (when starting vehicle from cold) to aid the computer in delivering the correctly Fuel/Air mixture. Once the engine reaches normal operating temperature, the heater section on the O2 sensor then turns off, providing normal exhaust gas measurement for appropriate fuel/air mixture.

An HO2 sensor is critical in the efficient running of an engine.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

I have Codes: P1133 and P1153 on my 1996 Trooper with 3.2 engine. Here is my question: The two upstream O2 sensors that are the cause of these codes are slimed with oil that is dripping from the engine....

OXYGEN SENSORS GETTING OIL ON THEM. THAT IS A BAD SIGN.THAT YOUR ENGINE BURNING OIL.LOOK AT SPARK PLUGS IF THEY ENGINE OIL DEPOSIT ON THEM.YOU HAVE WORN PISTON RINGS,WORN VALVE GUIDES OR WORN VALVE SEALS. YOU CAN REPLACE AND CLEAN BOTH O2 SENSORS IF ENGINE BURNING OIL.IT WILL KEEP LEAKING OIL ON O2 SENSORS AND SPARK PLUGS.

O2 light stays on

You're lucky you have an O2 sensor light, which most cars do not have.
---
Did you change both O2 sensors?

I installed new o2 senser and the light stays on -1992 trooper

Do you mean that the check engine light stays on after you installed a new O2 sensor?

Check for codes, again, and go from there.

Im confused my car is a toyota camry 6cyl not 4cyl and some say it has 4 o2 sensors and others say it has 2, hum, wich is it???? please help and also is there a site where it shows me like a diagram as to...

I have no diagram, but there is what they call upstream, and down stream locations.Upstream,is above the cat-converter,the down stream is below the cat-converter.This would be per-side.You have a left, and a right exhaust manifold. The exhaust pipes run from each manifold(left and right)to the catalytic converters. So you would have to have on the left side a up stream o2 sensor, above the catalytic converter.and a down stream o2 sensor, below the catalytic converter.this would also be on the right side also, this would be the total of four(4) o2 sensors.I hope this is helpful.

Cant find o2 sensors

if you follow your exhaust system you will find the o2 sensors they could have one right off the exhaust manifold and your second o2 is going to be behind the catalytic converter. so you will have a o2sensor before and after the catalytic converter on the exhaust hope this helps you out.
please rate me if you would
thank you

O2 sensor replacement

It's easier to change when the exsaust is warm. Start the truck and let it idle for a few minutes. You can use adjustable wrench or the actual O2 sensor removing socket to remove it! Be careful NOT to burn yourself!
