2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Logo
Posted on Sep 29, 2010

I had an issue a few days ago with my wife's Cavalier. It's a 2004, with a manual transmission. It started with the car not wanting to go into gear, then yesterday the clutch pedal went straight to the floor. I talked with my wife and she explained she had the same problem last year and that it was the master cylinder. I did some research and found out that when Chevy installed these parts on the assembly line they routed the cable (or line) across a flat, sharp piece of metal. The car has 92K miles and I was wondering if this would be an item of concern for a recall if so many people are experiencing the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Well first ck the resivoir this is a small resivior on firewall not to be confused with brake master cyl, small single cap,if low ck under veh for leaks on that line to clutch assembly, add fluid, brake fluid. and pump up you may have to bleed sys at bleeder screw, after pumping up ck for fluid leaks, might need another cyl or before mentioned line ,you can call chev dealer with your vin number, they will tell you if there is a recall

2004 Chevy Cavalier engine light and trac off light

One year ago---your check engine light came on
The PO405 code was for an EGR Valve issue
No mention--- if you had that fixed

A Few Days Ago---you get Trac Light on,that is part of
the ABS Braking System
Now that system has to be diagnosed & repaired, not just
continue to use the car, actually make the repair, before
you do some damage or can't stop the car & worse things happen

Changing Trans Fluid---is NOT a FIX for anything, but should
be done on all vehicles every 3 years.

If the Engine Management System isn't working correctly, then
your trans won't work as it should either

You need to be proactive & immediately have any abnormal
operation or check light problems, at least diagnosed in a few days
of noticing them

You need to stop using any car that isn't 100% & have it
repaired as soon as possible.

Not wait weeks or years.
Being 9 years old, the trans may also have it's own issues

My car doesn't want to start, all the power works but there is no crank.,A few weeks ago I had to crank about 3 times before it actually started.. Now it isn't cranking...

Sounds like you need a new starter - remove it (usually 2 bolts and a electrical plug) and take it to autozone, checker..... for a free check.
