1996 volkswagon golf 1.4 petrol with fuel rail and injectors (MPI) in some cars with that set up the fuel pump in the tank works on and off only when the fuel pressure is low it comes on but dont stay on...

It's normal because you have fuel return to tank for extra fuel which is not used. Car uses only amount fuel which goes through injectors, overflow goes back to tank but the pump need to pump constantla to maintain required pressure for injectors to work properly.

1995 volkswagon golf over heating. Replaced upper and lower radiator hose. Engine cooling fan doesnt kick on. What else should I look for.

I would check the radiator fan switch, it's mounted in the radiator on the driver side of the radiator, you should be able to see it from the engine compartment. Also check the fan relay and fan fuse.

No dash lights in a 1995 volkswagon golf? what do you check first?

Very common problem in MKIII Jettas & Golfs. You have to remove the instrument cluster (not that hard-just expose the 4 screws holding it). Once you pull the cluster out just clean the top illumination bulbs along the printed circuit strip, They are never blown, just dirty & will work again. Assemble & see again.

ive been having the same troubles with my firebird. i would check all your temp sensors and vacuum hoses for leaks. is it cutting out when driving or just when stopping or at an idle point? if so might want to check the fuel pump. im about to replace mine ill let you know if this fixes my problem because it might be $280 you dont need to spend
