Honda Civic 2005 LX automatic 1.7L. Replaced battery and alternator. Battery light is showing. I am told either wiring is bad or a fusible link that goes to the starer then alternator. Help. Put on

Not sure on your specific model, but they are usually either in wires near the battery + or near the starter big fat wire. You can identify them by close inspection of the wires to see a spot in the wire that looks as if something is spliced in. A small needle can be inserted into the wire on either side of the link to test for current passing through. When you find the bad one, making a good splice and soldering the new link in is best practice, using shrink wrap to insulate.

How do i fix my voltage regulator 98 dodge ram 5.2 new battery new pcm?

Voltage regulator is internal to the Alternator. You have to replace the Alternator.

Why do i lose voltage intermittently from the alternator when i step on the brake ?

what engine size?
the PCM runs the show, and its bad. or wires bad to it.
your car has PCM regulator.
no charge battery light.?

1: takes a good battery and battery cables and lugs cleaned.
2: test the altenator, odd how 4 of yours all tested good but you replaced it 4 times, get it tested if good, its good.
3: then check that the charge .battery lamp works. if the lamp works
that means the PCM thinks that charge system is bad.
if the wires from the rear of the alt, to the battery red and Gy wires
are good all the way to PCM then the PCM is bad.
the big wire on rear of ALT , on one car had a bad lug. #6 wire.
he replaced the ALT 6 times. all wasted effort.
inspect the wiring first. that is free, and is simple fix.
and if the ALT casing is not grounded, all bets off.
same with battery minus lug not good, on BOTH ENDS>
one guy had his battery lug moved to frame, (wrong)
and this never worked.

Loss of power

stock car YJ ? , or all hacked up. (old cars get hacked)
2.5 or 4.0 liter engine? still have a real jeep alternator not upgraded?

loss of electrical power (first rule, we never need to guess.!!!)
not with a voltmeter. (tool that costs $20 )
alternator good (by what means, autozoned?) ( we can find out one car)
but low on gauge. what gauge in dash voltmeter.? sure...
i think you car has no charge lamp only the dash VM.

own an volt meter? a DMM? hand volt meter?

1: if the alternator charge lamp is stuck on driving.
2: is battery voltage at 13.3 to 15vdc with engine at 800 RPM idling
alternator belt not slipping, for sure.....???
if the battery voltage is near 12.5v and falling running that is
an Alternator system failure, note i said, system. !!!

this is first. if we get to here. we can find the real cause.
test 3:
is the charge lamp on keyon, and goes out running?
make sure the big fuse for the alternator in the engine bay fuse
box is not blown, 50amp?

I have no 95 FSM and my online source sucks for 95

Alternator dead: (alt good)
1: belt slipping . engine at 300rpm, nah.
2: fuse blown, the big one. (engine bay fuse box)
3: ;wrong alternator, there are many, most others will fail, even good ones.......
4: alternator ground bad. (end to end, to battery minus)
5: bad wiring to same. bad connections, any to battery or alt.
6: some jeeps the PCM has the field regulator, see link below.
ECU pin 20 , is field pin, it is on 95, 4.0L (engine not stated)

is the CEL lamp on, and throwing code 41 DTC?, alt, field errors?

the alt has 4 pins, battery, field, ground and voltage sense.
The reg is in the PCM. and if bad is a bad $3 transistor..
see same form for fix for that issue..

i think this is same as your. 1996 is big change year.

you can test the alt, PCM wire pulled !, by full fielding the alt.
grounding the field term, no wires on field pin of alt.
see FSM for details on that.
The PCM modulates the field pin to control charge at all times.

Hooked up battery backwards on my 1992 ford explorer. Got it running now the alternator isn't charging the battery. Has 12 volts power. Could it be the points on alternator where the wiring hooks into...

The battery needs 12.6 volts or more to be in service
When the engine is running you need 14 volts or more
out of the alternator to charge the battery
You can test the alt by testing across the battery term
or the alt output wire & ground to case or motor
Could be the diodes got fried & you need a new alt
Have it tested at parts store, if you can't figure it out
Check all fuses & fusible links first

I thought starter was bad so replaced at home and then replaced battery because it dies when i turn air on and the lights went out while driving and came back on and its all jacked up now. help desperate...

have you had alternator checked. auto-zone will test it for free! because if alt. is bad, it will cause a bunch of charging problems. but make sure alt. belt is ok first! with car running and all accessories off. the voltage should be 14.2-14.7. if alternator is good less then 14 volts replace it. if alt. is bad you will not have the volts to charge system properly. good-day !

I got 04 ford focus good battery alternator but no charge also i check fuse box next t the battery and the other inside the car everything is good but my alternator still dont charge

1) check 10A fuse in the batt. juction box (eng. comp.) hot at all times.
2) check the large red battery wire to the alt. for good conn.
3) make sure the alt. is grounded properly
4) gray wire sent from the alt. to the PCM
5) blue wire sent from the PCM to the regulator (alt.)
6) small red wire power frorm the 10A fuse
if all checks out and still not charge replace the alt.

Electrical short or loose connection

did this problem start after the new alternator or is this the reason you replaced the alternator? sounds like a loose wire on the alternator or the battery post. make sure the battery terminals are clean from corrosion. if there is a hot spot on the wires or connectors that is a good sign that is a loose connection.

Im trying to hook up a 100 amp alt to a 68 mustang and the new alt only takes one wire. the problem is its not charging what am i doing wrong?

The one wire goes to the battery positive or positive on the solenoid. If this is right check your grounds, make sure the battery grounds to the body in the engine grounds to the body and the alternators grounded to the engine. If this is good take the battery and the alternator to an auto parts store to have it tested. These types of alternators have the voltage regulators inside them. Also make sure the belt is tight for the alternator. Good luck.
