Question about Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

I bought a 98 sunfire used. I didnt know much about car.But yeah for about a week Ive been hearing a ,,bubbly sound,, everytime I start DRIVING my car /it wont do it if i am on park/. Some people freaked me out saying that my head gasket was probably blow, but I tried something : started my car with the coolant tank open, put in in drive, pushed on the breaks and accelerated. The result was : no bubbles what so ever in the coolant tank. So I assume it isnt a head gasket problem. But I have noticed that my oil is leaking from the oil tank underneath my car. there is thin coat of oil built up on the head as well but thats been there for a little bit. I check when I am driving and my car does not seem to be over heating, it gets hot but always stay in the middle point, so never in the red.

you might have a fan motor relay problem.locate the fan motor relays and swap out both relays,if the problem continues then change out the thermostats.

Hmm sounds like you might have a leak into the cooling system such as a seeping head gasket.

Have a local garage do a leak test, and if they have the tools a coolant dye test, which will test for combustion gases in the cooling system.

Loss of power and drive but engine is still running

The water bubble under the dash might be a heater core, and the slow and sluggish might be caused by the transmission, try checking the wires and plugs, they may need to be replaced, we just changed out the wires and plugs on ours and it did wonders!
