The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) breather hose goes from the air snorkel to a grommet in the rear valve cover just under the coil pack bracket.

04 Durango 4.7 pvc line is disconnected on intake where does it hook up on engine

Not sure about the pvc line and not even sure about the pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) line on your car but generally there is a connection made at the top of the engine, usually at a cam cover. Often there are two - a large half inch or five eighths inch spigot intended to be connected to the air cleaner housing or intake trunking and a second spigot of around three-eigths inch connecting via a restrictor to usually near the middle of the intake manifold. The restrictor is often just a small drilling in the manifold of about 5/64 inch that usually needs cleaning during maintenance.

How to check pcv for vaccum leaks

The lines going to the PVC are what you would have to remove and check with a Vacuum pump or Vacuum source. Close off one end with your finger and apply Vacuum to the remaining end.
The engine and its cavities produce a Vacuum pressure when the engine is running to draw in vapors from the oil system. Therefore any hose connected directly to the PVC valve will vent through that system so you will need to test the parts off of the engine.
The PVC valve is a cheap part and usually does not break between replacement intervals. Because of the spring valve inside this part, it is to be replaced at intervals just like an air filter.

Smoke came out from the engine oil deepstick

NO worries about the smoke if there is no excessive smoke, the smoke is just internal pressure that the engine makes and is vented through the PVC valve and back into the intake. When you take the dip stick out, you give the excess gasses another way out of the engine other then the PVC lines.

Once again, NO worries unless there is signs or engine issues such as ruff idle and excessive smoke coming out from the tail pipe.

Thank you for using fixya and be safe.

Engine rough idle. code p1131. replaced o2 sensor.

vacuum leak in PVC line or clogged PVC. its a leak after the map sensor. o2 sensor is correcting for a lean condition so its adding fuel to your car when the o2 sensor detects the extra air.

Were is the pcv valve located on 94 ranger

look around for your throttle body, the pvc valve is usually connected to a rubber tube and connects the engine and throttle body. check the throttle body for a small rubber tube and follow it..if it leads to the engine area and is connected by i believe a "L" shaped plastic piece, thats your pvc valve

Where is the PVC valve 3800 engine

Where is the PVC valve? Standing in Front of the car it is on the left side of the air plenum. Unscrew the oil filler tube and remove the plastic engine cover. There is a sensor on the left side of the plenum. This sensor senses when the PVC valve is open/closed. Don't bother disconnecting the connector or the piece the connector plugs into. Simply twist the whole plastic assembly clockwise = yes clockwise while pressing downward to release the assembly. There is a spring underneath so don't let it pop up. With the assembly out of the way grab the PVC valve with a pair of needle nose pliers, wriggle the valve out. If the o-ring is ok put it on the new PVC valve. Drop the valve in place making sure it seats on the o-ring. Look at the bottom of the assembly to see how the slots line up with the tabs. Slip the slots down over the tabs compressing the spring and twist counter-clockwise. Replace the plastic engine cover, Done!

Hello, My Monte Carlo will not stay running. I

Its called a pcv valve (positive crankcase valve) what year monte? The valve is for emissions you wont damage the engine but you will notice it idles higher and goes through more gas. you really need to get to the route of the problem. look for broken vaccum lines, engine light( is it on while car is running) the more you can find out the better you'll do getting to the bottom of it.

2002 saturn sl1 pcv valve

The PVC valve is located in the valve cover (top "cover" of the engine, near the oil filler cap) On DOHCs, it is immediatly to the right. On SOHCs, it a few inches to the left. The PVC valve is held to the valve cover with a rubber grommet type seat.

1. Remove the hose that connectes the throttle body unit to the PVC valve.
2. Using your hands, remove the PVC valve from the rubber seat. Wiggle it back and forth, then pull it straight out.
3. You can either clean this with carb cleaner, or simply replace it with a new one (<$5 at most auto stores)
4. Put the PVC valve back into the rubber seat and replace the hose
