If you touch them with bare hands, the oil from your skin can heat up on the bulb and cause them to burst. Also, you may want to check for leaks around the seals that could allow moisture into the assembly.

Headlights not bright

It's very difficult to see how a keyless remote could cause the problem you describe, to be honest.

The problem may lie in the reflective shield inside the headlight though you would notice any defects.

I'd still check the earth wires for the headlights though.

HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING

Replacing headlight bult in 1997 explorer

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Examples of various types of automotive light bulbs tcca6p11.jpg
Fig. 1: Exploded view of the front headlight assembly and related components 85556040.gif
If equipped, open the headlight access panel by sliding the latch and lifting the panel upwards 89686p34.jpg
Fig. 2: Exploded view of the headlight bulb, retainer and wire harness plug 89686g17.gif
  1. Open the vehicle's hood and secure it in an upright position.
  2. If necessary, open the bulb access panel by depressing the latch then lifting. To remove the bulb, grasp the retainer and rotate it counterclockwise to unlock it . . . 89686p35.jpg
. . . then withdraw the bulb from the headlight lens housing 89686p36.jpg

  3. Unfasten the locking ring which secures the bulb and wire harness plug assembly, then withdraw the assembly rearward.
  4. Disconnect the electrical wire harness plug from the bulb and remove the locking ring as well. Unplug the wire harness from the bulb and either slide the retainer over the plug, or remove it from the bulb 89686p37.jpg
    To install:
  5. Before connecting a light bulb to the wire harness plug, ensure that all electrical contact surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt.
  6. Install the locking ring onto the bulb, then line up the replacement headlight bulb with the harness plug. Firmly push the bulb onto the plug until the spring clip latches over the bulb's projection. WARNING
Do not touch the glass bulb with your fingers. Oil from your fingers can severely shorten the life of the bulb. If necessary, wipe off any dirt or oil from the bulb with rubbing alcohol before completing installation.
  7. Position the headlight bulb and secure it with the locking ring.
  8. To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. (If this is a combination low and high beam bulb, be sure to check both intensities.) If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it too is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct if necessary.
  9. Close the bulb access panel and the vehicle's hood.

1997 turned headlights on and had no lights low or high beam

If I'm correct, that year range had sealed beam headlights. Either way, first thing I would check would be the fuses. A blown fuse explains no hi or lo beams pretty well. After ruling out any fuse issues, check the bulbs to see if they are blown - not likely both would go at same time but not impossible. Fuses fine and bulbs fine, issue has to be somewhere in wiring harness. That is the worst case scenario since you'll need a multi-meter and a ton of time.

How to change headlights on 2004 ram1500

If you are replacing the headlight bulbs, rotate the bulb retaining lock ring counter-clockwise, pull retainer out of headlight housing and disconnect electrical connector. On the drivers side, you have to remove the fuse and relay box screws and move the box to the side to access the headlight bulb. If you are replacing the headlight housings, there is a push pin and 2 screws on the inside, behind the hood and one screw on the outside at the bottom. Remove these and pull the housing out enough to remove the bulb retainers.
