I would like to change the oil in my 2006 Smart Car diesel. I was told I couldn't because the oil had to be pumped out. Is that True?

I just had my oil changed in my 2006 deisel smart..and yes it had to be pumped out as they don't have a drain plug on a lot of the older modls. I understand that the newer ones have a plug.

I don t have an owners manual for the smart pure softip 2001 that i bought last week it needed oil i put semi synthetic oil in it as it was all i had and the car was bone dry i went to a local car spare...

you can mix normal, semi and synthetic oils together with no loss of lubrication.but on a car of this age normal its fine to use 10/40 if not burning oil and 20/50 if burning over 1/2 quart every will need to drop the underbody splash cover to get to the sump plug, its on the bottom of the oilpan on the lower bulge.

Smart K is using heaps of oil it has done 83,000 k's. has it warn out?

its easy to find out .. have a "compression" and "leakdown" test done .. that will tell you the condition of the rings, cylinders and valve seats .. if the oil has been changed regularly then i would not suspect it to be "warn out " .. more likely a blown head gasket allowing oil to flow into a cylinder (check for carbon on one spark plug) .. or warn valve guides/seals (repairable) .. of course look for oil leaks ..
